So I've been looking at the VZ58 for some time now as a non-restricted sport rifle, and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with the magwell adaptors that allow for the use of AR mags.

I've read on several blogs that the earlier models were unreliable, chewing up magazines and misfeeding rounds.
Some say they're iffy, while others say they work great.

On the zahal website, it says it only works with the .223/5.56 model, but others say it works just fine in 7.62 with XCR pistol mags.

Has anyone had experience with this mag well adaptor?
What's your opinion of it?

Bump!

This seems old n dead but I thought I'd chime in.

I bought the 223/556 CSA Magwell adaptor and it never seemed to fit my vz in 7.62x39. The magwell fits fine but the LAR pistol mags don't want to lock in place. Seems there is a small piece of metal that restricts the insertable depth.

Thinking of taking to gun smith as I could identify the issue myself.

Anyone else ever have this issue?

better and non-destructive option is to add a spacer to the front of the plastic magwell adapter. The adapter sits just forward enough to sometimes impede lock.

Do you have guide or pics for this, I'm having this issue amongst others. Would really appreciate this!

Anyone have a guide or fix to run a full 10 rounds from metal GI or ASC mags? I have a 5.56 one and the magwell adaptor and when I run the ASC mags with 10 rounds, the 10th round won't allow the mag to lock in and dents the casing for the round. It fits properly with 9 rounds loaded but the bolt hold open does NOT work at all on the last round.

I can run a full 5 in Pmags with no issue but the last round bolt hold open doesn't work either, nor do the Pmags drop freely. Anyone have a fix for these issues or a link to a guide of some sort?

This is super, super helpful! Thank you so much for this.

Maybe this will help. CSA sporter in 762 x short commie.

I cut a piece of sheet metal for the front of the adapter as seen in photo and placed it as per photo.

the csa adapter comes with replacement bolt hold open and mag release lever. They need to be installed for it to work.
