The other day I took the butt plate off of my Military VZ58 to see about changing it in to a folder. The hollow cavities in the the original wood impregnated plastic butt stock looked like they could possibly hold the cleaning kit, but the cleaning rod didn’t quite fit. Has anyone heard of Czech soldiers storing items in these spaces? It would seem to be a good place for spare cleaning patches or similar items that wouldn’t rattle. A Boresnake would fit well in this area.

Also, do the beech wood stocks have similar cavities for storage or perhaps lightening the weapon’s overall weight? I would imagine they only have a hole in them for the fixed stock screw access. But it would not be unimaginable to have a storage area there too. Any available photos of the butt end of a hardwood stock would be most appreciated.
