Hi guys.

I'm wondering how does one put a muzzle brake on the VZ58 rifle? Can you do this with the CSA model?

Thanks,

Mine (the 5.56 version) came with a thread protector. Threads are the same as the 7.62 gun, but different from an AR.

Just spins on.

Ben

Push the pin in and spin the protector off. Hold pin in and spin muzzle device on. No tools required.

Is there anywhere that shows this process with pictures?

I notice a pin under the front sight post that has a spring behind it, I push it but can't get the muzzle protector off.
Not even sure what the muzzle protector looks like.

Yep that's the pin. Push it in with finger nail or small screwdriver and grab end of barrel and twist it counter clockwise should twist right off. Or below your pin is there just threads??? If so then thread protector is already off. Was your rifle new or used?

I can't remember if you can put a wrench on thread protector or not. I hate to suggest this but you could use pliers or vice grips. UGH!!! Around a gun be careful with those tools don't mess up your finish or threads.
I'll take a pic and post it shortly

Here you go. You can use a wrench on thread protector. It shouldn't be tight and you don't need it tight. Don't use a wrench to tighten

There are no threads.

When i push the pin in where should i be turning? The circle piece that the pin was blocking from turning? or closer towards the end of the muzzle?

I tried to turn that circle piece with the pin pushed down with my fingers but couldn't get it to budge.

I have an 858 that has no thread protector. Does it normally come with one and if so where can I get one to replace it?
I think new cz858 comes with one. I bought a used cz858 and it didn't but it did come with a break. My 2 new vz58's came with them. It should have something over the threads to protect them if not they could get damaged and you couldn't use a muzzle device. Place a WTB ad for a thread protector or buy a muzzle device off the EE.
