VZ58/removing part of triggerguard for mag release

So I was thinking of removing that curved portion of the triggerguard behind the mag release so I can more easily access it with my trigger finger(left-handed).
I could get an extended mag release, but I don't think it's necessary, I can just cut that part away and wrap the mag release with electrical tape. Voila easy mag changes with your trigger finger (if your left handed) while my non-fire control hand feeds the beast.

Does anyone think this is a bad idea?

Seems like a pretty easy mod with a dremel.

Has anyone who has done this have any tips?

Not a bad idea, lots of guys have done it. IMO you're still better off with an extended mag release.

I wasn't actually suggesting removing the tab and installing an extended, but it would certainly give you a lot to get hold of.

With just the extended mag release, I've never felt the need to cut the tab out. Even with gloves it's easy to work.

Cut it out, round off the corners and you'll be good to go.
