VZ58 Trigger Job

Troll ...?
I own vz58, cz858 and spent a lot of time with AK, so NO I am not a hater, but I prefer to live in the real world not in your tacticool la-la land.

If people didnt strive to make firearms better, we'd all be using matchlock muskets still. An improvement is an improvement regardless of what rifle its on.

Smart people can distinguish between possible/useful improvement and waste of time. It does't matter how much better your trigger is on vz/cz/ak the accuracy will not improve by any measurable difference just because the way the whole system (components) is built and work. You can pimp your Toyota Corolla as much as you want, but unless you start changing major components, it is still Corolla. So spare your effort on the trigger job only and if you are striving soooo much to improve ( I think it is more likely just tacticool urge) just build a new rifle or start improving the whole system/components.
Cheers.

I agree, you've got a good point. Not everyone has the skill to take advantage of a better trigger in the vz platform. You (and a lot of other people) are just fine using the vz with the stock trigger which isn't that bad in the first place.

I found that my groups became smaller after my trigger job. I could maintain better trigger control and perform faster follow up shots.

It was a fun project for a couple of slow evenings and cost me $0. Worth it for me.

Trigger control on a 3-4 MOA semi-auto rifle. LOL
I will not discuss your skills because I don't know you just like you don't know me, so draw your conclusions if you can !
My groups at 300yds became smaller when I changed the red dot with scope, but the rifle is still 3 MOA rifle.
Cheers

I took the time to finish my trigger and eliminated the overtravel. Here's how I did my trigger job.

Please be aware that I'm not responsible for anything if you damage your gun if you decide to modify it as shown here. This is not a how to guide. If you're not confident take it to a gunsmith.

I started with 600 grit sandpaper and worked my way to 2000 on the sear and striker contact surfaces. This got me a mirror finish and a very smooth 2nd stage. I also trimmed the sear from the top to shorten the second stage travel.

The sear and striker must have positive engagement. This is very important for safety. The way to test for it is to put pressure on the striker while slowly pulling the trigger and observing striker travel.

If the striker travels back you have positive engagement and you're good. If it stays still it's neutral engagement which is ok too (but positive is better). If it travels forward it has negative engagement and is unsafe.

To eliminate overtravel I drilled in the back of the trigger and soldered in a piece round welding rod. Trimmed and filed it down until the trigger stops right after it releases the striker.

The over travel adjustment isn't actually adjustable but it doesn't need to be. Once it's initially set you won't need to adjust it.

It was a fun project and helped shrink my groups a bit.

I hope this helps you get a better idea of what's involved in a trigger job.

Awesome. Thanks so much for this. This obviously voided the warranty eh? Have you faced any kind of reliability degradation since the mod?

i also own a CZ and a VZ and i have shot an AK this one time in Las Vegas...blaah blaah blaaah .... the man asked how to improve his trigger.... Some others had some encouraging, helpful advise on how to accomplish this.

I seen your first post to this form, and i quote

maybe give back instead of being a hater... i did a trigger job on my sks and i noticed a world of different when trying to hit small targets laying down..

Sorry if i offended you, or was acting trollish, just calling the kettle black.

i will try to buy the zendl kit. as for the naysayers who think its useless to upgrade the trigger? you can eat a bag of d*cks, im upgrading this for faster follow up shots so i can use this rifle in IPSC rifle and i just cant stand the overtravel and pretravel on the factory trigger.

Where did you find hate in my posts?
This is my opinion and I DO NOT CARE if you like it or not. I guess you are one of the softies that see hate, offence and russians everywhere.

No problem, glad you found it useful. I'm sure it voids the warranty but it doesn't bother me because it's through North Sylva which is an awful company to deal with.

I've shot a few hundred rounds after the mod without a single issue.

These people are not haters. They simply lack the understanding of what a good trigger can do and the skill to take advantage of it, even in a "3 moa" rifle. Nothing wrong with that, each of us uses our guns in a different manner and as long as it works for them it doesn't matter.
