Hold onto pin that holds hand guard on it helps to rotate plastic piece

At this point just pull them apart

thanks Lobster_pot for the pics and info!. no matter what i try and how hard i press down and how much i twist nothing is making a difference. im going to try tomorrow when my anger is a little lower

Lol. I hear ya. it should twist right around. It's a little tricky until u do it the first time. They are all a little different. I don't even have to push in on mine. It's just a tiny little bump

That's cz858 metal I painted black on the rifle. I didn't use the metal that came on it(in other pics). Just thought it would be easier to swap if I wanted to

Lol it might have been easier to get a set from corwin arms. He has a great deal on for Czech original wood and it comes with the metal already on the upper handguard

All you have to do is stick a screwdriver in the opening where the pin is (lock pin in place like it is seated on the rifle) then twist it with all your might using the screwdriver as leverage. They all just twist off with a little force.

Hey yeah that would work. That's what I was trying to get at in one of my earlier posts about holding onto the pin. Good idea bfiles with the screwdriver. I think my hands might tougher than my brain is smarter. Lol what??!!!

Ok so i just finally got it! the screw driver as leverage helped and i had to force it to the point that i expected something to break. thanks for the help everyone maybe this post will help someone else with an issue. my advice... FORCE IT!

no..but i did put a small crack in the corner of the new wood handguard. there is no way the wood will fit on the csa with the old clip. the inside diameter and thickness of the wood is very different from the synthetic. i just removed the metal clip and all is good

this gives an idea of how i want the finished project. i still need to remove the csa side rail form another rifle,replace the hex screws,attach csa rail to this rifle and find out how to "notch" the csa side rail to fit a posp scope....
