My FIL managed to scrounge up an old shotgun in some sort of garage sale deal and it turns out that it's a W&C Scott and Son double that according to the serial number was made in 1886 or 1887.
It's in pretty rough shape. It looks like someone didn't know that they had a fairly valuable shotgun on their hands and used it for run-of-the-mill bird and rabbit hunting. There's no blueing left that I can tell and the stock is pretty beat up. It looks like the stock may have even been refinished.
