Not in this case Looky.
Trevj mentioned about Midway not dealing with Canadians. Brownells is getting that way as well. Ordered a bunch of stuff only to have my order "reduced" due to no permits being in place from their vendor.
People should understand that the cost of gunparts for grampa's old gun, whatever it is, is whatever you are willing to pay. Parts for a lot of firearms made 20+ years ago are obsolete and no longer in production. If you need something, buy it when you find it.
Brownell's will deal with Canadians. But they have to deal within the new US laws, that require that the outfit that
makes the parts, register (and therefore, pay for the privilege) in order that Brownell's can sell the stuff out of Country. IIRC, the fine that Midway paid out was close to a quarter million dollars. They still have the other half of that fine held in abeyance, hanging over their heads if they get caught doing such again. Not worth the risk for them!
As I understand it, they exported 500 scopes without the proper paperwork, got fined $1K EACH scope, and paid out half in cash, and got left with the other half hanging over their heads in perpetuity, if they screw it up again.
So, the way I see this is that a fella can spend upwards of a couple grand on tools, equipment and materials to make a thirty cent part (that would be a Milling machine, lathe, assorted other shop tools, and a DIY injection mold set-up, plus time and failures along the way), or one can smile, nod, and swallow hard, and get on with one's own life after paying out what the man asks for a part that shouldn't cost so much, but does.
Speaking of DIY injection molding, there is a lot of info around, but it all hinges upon being able to make the mold, so you pretty much need the rest of the machine tools to do so...
Me, I wouldn't bother buying one. Like I said earlier, its a few minutes at the bench to make a reasonable substitute, if not a far better part from metal. But what I will do for myself for free, you are not going to convince me to sell to you for any less than the $30 it would cost you to buy one elsewhere.
Cheers
