Although I have some experience with rifle reloading I am thinking of getting into reloading for my savage 24 20 ga. Its the camper version so it has cylinder choke and as everyone knows has terrible patterns. I have tried all different ammo but would still like a little tighter pattern. I already know the harder the shot the better, and the more the velocity the more your pattern will open. My question is what would be the best wads to use. I have read about guys using scotch tape on the petals and soldering 2 out of 4 petals together to keep shot with wad longer. Is this safe? Any info from you experienced shotshell loaders out there would really be appreciated. I know I will never get full choke performance out of it but would like to try to get the tightest patterns possible.
