Just picked this up.Anyone know much about them ?.A nice old flare gun for sure and in nice shape to boot !.Serial # 817 and dated 1940 ?.I can't find much on the net other than not allot made and unless I'm wrong kinda pricey to buy one as well ?
There 2 upside down crowns on right side of barrel where the octagon stops and an eagle at chamber end.2 upside down crowns on receiver with an eagle.Also stamped Walter just above 1940.
Any help would be great !.My camera wont pic pics of the stampings,sorry.

I have an 1894 Hebal flare pistol made by JGA for the German army and used in WW1. It is very well made and saw some actual use. I believe the post WW1 flare pistols were similar to the early Hebal but like yours, had a shorter barrel.
