Wait time for PAL

I sent in my renewal. It was signed for and it was on the system about a week later. Under status it was "137" (I think). And about a week after that it was stated that it had completed initial processing. So I assume it should be about a week for it to get "initially processed" and on the system

OK thanks. They received it this morning so I didn't want to waste my time checking every 2 minutes.

My safety course instructor sent my passing test results to Orillia on the 31st of March. Got stamped papers back and sent package to CFO in NB on April 21st, via regestered mail. I called them on the 25th because the online application check still didn't know me, and the woman there said to call back on May 5th if the computer still didn't list my application in the system. So they need two weeks to get your application in the system after recieving it? Man I want to work there. Hope to be able to buy a firearm sometime this summer.

That sucks. At least in Alberta we don't have to send the test results in for the CFO's blessing and an additional 3 weeks of waiting for that.

Actually, from what I understand is; No they do not trust the instructors/examiners.

From the rumor mill (I do not know this from first hand). But some former instructor(s) were putting people through the course without actually teaching the course or examining the student. Like a CPR recert class, you paid your fee, you get your card type of deal.

By having the instructor send in the paperwork for verification, the CFO can check the instructors name (to ensure it is valid) and red stamp the batch of paperwork and send them to the students. In theory, it would save the staff time for checking each and every application to ensure the instructor/examiner is legit. Since they just have to see that the CFO "stamp" is present.

I think it is BS, but unfortunately I don't make the rules

When did this pre-approval by the CFO start? When I got my PAL last year I was given my test results at the course and mailed them with my app. to the CFC and was sent my PAL. Now when I passed the exam for the RPAL the instructor kept my test papers to send to the CFO. I must have missed some
info in the news. I must keep up with the forums.
