Walker death triggers!!

I never use a safety-I only chamber a round when I'm ready to shoot, its not hard to just leave the bolt open with a shell partially chambered-then close it when I'm ready to go.Not hard to do,and If I don't shoot-I just lift up the bolt handle. Its a routine I've followed since I was a kid.My dad told me the most dangerous time is when you've fired a shot at a deer, chambered another round-but don't shoot-the gun is loaded but you're concentration is on the deer-not the rifle and thats when accidents happen-obviously MUZZLE CONTROL is the ultimate''safety''

Sounds like 1 of the many problems I have encountered with Remington and there "Quialty" or lack there of.

You mean those of us who go deer hunting with C9s? Loaded with full belts? Cocked locked and ready to roll? With no safety? Us?

But seriously, I rarely use a safety. Don't load until I'm ready to fire, and at that point, my trigger finger is my safety and the weapon is kept pointed downrange.

If Remington should have made a design change I guess Winchester and Paul Mauser should have too...
I have seen more 'problems' with Winchester and Mauser 98 triggers than I have with 700's.

Firearms manufacturers need a change in US liability laws... it is entirely too easy to sue, sue, sue and get money from big companies in unjust cases...

What kind of problems with the original Mauser 98 trigger??

........But seriously, I rarely use a safety. Don't load until I'm ready to fire, and at that point, my trigger finger is my safety ........

Exactly!

Many of my friends back East can't seem to understand this as standard practice, but that's how it rolls in our camp: Remingtons, Rugers, Winchesters, Mausers, SAKOs, Husqvarnsa, whatever, they all get handled the same, ...........and by everynone. :)

What happened to the Sako 85 ? I bet that one doesn't go off when releasing the safety ;) ? (and yes I do also own a remington 700)

Well my Sako 85 safety NEVER has messed up on me, because I've never seen a news "documentary" saying it will.

But my WALKER DEATH TRIGGERED Model 700 does!!!!!!! I just watched the show again....I'm terrified it's gonna shoot again! Hopefully it won't be pointing at people when it does. You know, because if my gun is loaded and on SAFE I think its OK to not control my muzzle and keep it in a safe direction :(

I hope CNBC fixes this problem soon so I can go back to not worrying about my WALKER DEATH TRIGGER!

Im surprised nobody has blown their foot off since the Article.....now we're talking litigation:eek:

I've almost always loaded a round in the chamber and placed the safety on when carrying a slung rifle when hunting. Next year will be my 30th year hunting and a lot of those have been with Rem 700's. Never had, never saw and never heard of one of these safety bangs until very recently.

I'm a hot carry guy when I'm hunting or varminting in an area I'm authorized to do so. I guess after all these years it must've been my safe gun handling that has saved my feet and all my hunting buddys.

I think its because you havent watched the documentary yet. Go ahead, watch it, see what happens!

So here I am sitting in my blind right now with my Modell 700 waiting for bambi to show. About five minutes ago a nice buck walked infront of me...my heart starts racing, I lift my WALKER DEATH TRIGGERED model 700, flip the safety off and BANG! It goes off! What the he'll REmington?!?!?!

This is such a strange coincidence because last night I watched that News story on it! What a weird coincidence eh?

The end.

:)

I assume this whole thread is aimed at my POS Remington thread.

Let me just state this. My firearm was brand new in box, bought at a large retail store. The trigger was never tinkered with and the firearm was degreased/cleaned before fired. It was also cleaned and oiled after every trip to the range.
The firearm has a serious safety issue, from the factory and with no user error.
does every Remington have this issue? NO! I'm not even implying that many have this issue. I'm simply stating what happened with my rifle.
No I have not seen this news show, but as with most productions of that sort I'm sure it blows everything way out of proportion. Blowing this out of proportion is not what I'm trying to do, I'm just telling you guys what happened with my rifle.

P.S. It was not some sort of monster buck, it was a mid-sized meat doe.

Remingtons have adjustable triggers. If you set the trigger too light, you defintitely can get it to the point, where if the trigger is touched with the safety on, then the safety is pushed off, the firing pin will drop. I like a light trigger, first encountered this years ago after adjusting my 722 trigger. After adjusting the trigger and before loading the rifle, try slamming the bolt home, putting the safety on, pulling the trigger, pushing the safety off, until you are satisfied. If the trigger was never adjusted by the shooter, then unless it was set too light previous to his ownership, I don't know the answer. There are three adjusting screws on a model 700 trigger. Instructions for adjustment are available from the internet. If you have an older Remington 700/721/722 it is quite easy to grind the little lever so that the safety no longer locks the bolt, so the rifle can be loaded/unloaded with the safety on. Remington will perform this for you for a price if you go to your factory authorized repair depot, but they will also set the trigger heavy. Yes, you should use the safety, BUT DON'T DEPEND UPON IT. If you are slogging through brush, etc. it is wise to not chamber a round, but sitting in a deer stand??? I am sure as heck gonna have one up the pipe.

I wouldn't get too bent out of shape Cam.

Its just guys all over the world are suddenly having issues with the "dangerous POS Rem 700's".
Those of us that have packed these rifles for decades without issue get a little suspicious.

If you have an older production date you may have the old trigger.
It is possible someone along the retail side of things decided to try their hand at trigger adjustment.

When you post a video take the rifle down and show the trigger adjustment screws...We should be able to see if they have been touched.

Sorry if I offended you Cam. I know #### happens and sometimes a lemon come sout of the factory. This thread wasn't directed at you, more so all the people I've seen on the news and Fudd's I've talked to locally about it at the gun shop until I'm blue in the face :)

THE WALKER DEATH TRIGGER LIVES ON!!

PS- Does anyone have a safety ball detent for the WALKER DEATH TRIGGER? I needs one. PM me...

I never throw a round into the chamber until its time to shoot. I REFUSE to trust any sort of safety. There have been the odd critter get away from me, but I've never had an accidental discharge.

+1. If im in the blind etc ill have my detachable magazine in, but I wont have a chambered round until I see my target.
