Walking Varmint/Coyote Rifles: What are you shooting?

yep I got the LVSF in 223, it is one sweet walking predator rig, the 22-250 will be just as good or better

I got a VXII 3-9x40 with the LR duplex on mine, and cant think of a better scope for the rifle.
 
Another vote for the LVSF.
Mine's a 17 Remington w/ a Leupy 3-9 compact.
Have a couple of 700 HB's in 22/250 and 220 Swift.Lugged the Swift around once for about 4 miles, almost left it in the woods:D

Rem 700 Stainless w/24" stainless fluted King 1:14 chambered in 22-250 Ackley Improved, nestled in a Mtn Laminated stock. It wears Talley LW's Leupold 3.5-10x40 Tactical.

Rembo just swapped actions and rechambered it for me. I have yet to shoot it as a 22-250 AI (It was the identical rifle but chambered in 223AI).

When I feel like really letting the fur fly I pack my 280AI w/140gr TSX's @ 3167fps (dogz stay smacked!)

Add another Rem 700:)
Cheapo SPS in 223 with a 10x Mildot painted up winter white camo.
Not a lightweight at 9lbs though....
Works for me and if I scrape it up on the rocks I'll repaint it:D
 
Tikka T3 Lite in 6.5x55 x 95grn Vmax and 120grn ballistic tips. Bucks the wind a little better than the 223 with 55grn bullets and has a very slightly better trajectory (not enough to really make a difference) bearhunter
 
Mine is a Sako m75 SS 243 I bought gently used in May. I put a Leupold VX II 4-12x40AO with the LR duplex for now. Reloads to try for wolves & coyotes will be 55 & 95 grain Ballistic Silvertips and 65grain moly VMAXs. I also have the Hodgodon's Varmint Experiment Package of 4 powders to try for the reloads.

I sure would like to get a Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless in 22-250 and have it completely winter camo dipped-scope/rifle/bipod. Seen one last year-I should of bought it.
 
For a 'walking' gun, I stick to the Ruger 77/22 vhz Hornet. I avoid the 22-250's and 243's in a 'walking' gun, because I woun't be taking shots out past about 200 yds with it. For the long range shooting from a rest, I'll use a heavier and more expensive gun - both negative attributes for a walking gun that gets carried and banged around a lot.

I also have a rem 788 in 222 that I think would probably make a devent walking gun, except for the lack of sling studs (which is an oversight that will soon be corrected.)

They Start at 7-1/4 Lbs out of the Box.....
The STEEL Tactical TPS Base and rings ain't lightweight Talleys that's for sure ;)
The 10x Bushnell is no lightweight either, add another LB....
Add yet another LB for the Harris Bipod and you're actually pushing 10 lbs:)

I usually shoot .222 (Rem 788, Svage 340 or Baikal) because I have way more fox in my area than coyotes and much more gun makes for some torn-up hides. The .222 with a sp travelling right around 3000fps if a real pelt saver on fox, assuming you dont hit a sholder.

I also sometimes use a 22-20 Rem 700bdl if I feel the need for speed, but its got a pretty stock and I dont like to carry it if its nasty out.

I also just picked up a Stev 200 in .243 but i havent had much time to shoot it yet. I can imagine it should put the smackdown on a yote or wolf. ( I sold the 25-06 SPS I bought so I wont get to try that one on yotes)
