Wall tent size ?

Jeez you guys!! Now I'm probably going to have to buy a tent, too!! Just kidding. I plan on doing some "camping" and exploring up in the rocks west of Flin Flon. I have a couple of el cheapo tents. I think I'll be pitching one of them for storing junk and sleep in my big old Suburban!!

H4831: Neat old pic. You look like you are trying to built up steam for... something. I see that you cut your firewood nice and rectangular. :p:p

why is the stove placed to the left of the enterence walking in

Because most people are right handed and when you load wood into your arms it's usually stacked up in your left arm. This means that you push open the tent flap with your right hand, which would cause you to push the flap into or towards the stove if the stove was on the right.

How's that for a theory? :)

Personally, my stove sits at the back of the tent in the middle, with the pipe going out the wall.

Here's one you can pack, it weighs five pounds, plus ounces for a good fly. It is the Pioneer brand, silk (Egyptian cotton) prospectors tent. Strictly for summer or fall, but quite mosquito proof.
Basically a one man tent, but a young son and I have used it quite successfully, one time for a week.
Johnn, you always seem to have the same Pioneer brand items that I do, have you got this one?

Thanks for your comment. I forgot to put my Pioneer Brand pack board in the picture. Back in the era of the pick and shovel prospector those tents were quite popular, and Pioneer Brand was top of the line, plus. Jones started out as Jones Sail, and started one year after Vancouver was started. After WW2 they moved to the address on the label, in Vancouver. They had a big three story buiding and they tested all their tents by staking them out on the roof, sometimes for as long as a year!
BigUglyMan, I see you are in Aklavik. I didn't think anybody was still in Aklavik. Thought the mosquitos owned it!

cylinder stoves & wall tents

I've been looking at some wall tents for myself awhile back. The one that impressed me the most were from Cylinder Stoves (google it). Not a bulky frame and can be bought as a complete kit with stove, tent and frame, with many upgradable options.
