Wallmart NO longer carrying ammo

This morning i went to pickering and Ajax ontario wallmarts and both the ammo cabinets were empty I asked why and was told that wallmart want to get away from ammo and GUN stuff

D'oh! Some idiots started a compaign against it because Walmart followed Ontairo ammo law that requires to record your name, address and phone number along with the number of your PAL... Add pressure from antis and Walmart made a business decision not to sell ammo... nobody to blame but gun owners who are idiots... :puke:

I told that, but nobody listened. :bangHead:

Walmart and CT are both quite a bit cheaper than my local gun shop. I prefer to support the little guys, but if it comes down to not being able to afford ammo and having to shoot less or going to the big box store...quess which one wins.

The only thing I ever bought at Walmart was the Wildcat .22 ammo.

Other than that most of their ammo selection is limited and I reload all my center-fire rifle and handguns.

No loss to me...

My "local" gun store is a two hour drive away...one way! For the guys who don't reload, Wal-Mart & Cdn. Tire are just about the only game in town when it comes to ammo.
Fair enough and I wouldn't be critical of anyone who in that situation chooses the closest option. But what we are talking here are Walmarts in subruban Ontario not in rural Canada. If you're buying ammo in Ajax it's not too much trouble to drive a few minutes down the road to Gagnon's in Oshawa or maybe even up to Williams in Port Perry.

FWIW, my nearest gunstores are 45 minutes away compared to 15 minutes to the closest Canadian Tire but I'll still make the extra drive. I have bought ammo at CTC on rare occasion but I won't ever buy it at Walmart.

canadian tire is to buy tires:rolleyes:
walmart is buy girls drawers:rolleyes:
now gun stores is were you go buy to buy ammo:D
learn to reload fellow gun nutz....you will get to :shotgun: lots more at a cheaper rate......besides its a fun and relaxing passtime..

A big BS on that one.Can-tire is the place to save money on factory ammo.Just like buying gas you go where the prices are best.

More people buy factory than reload by a large margin.

Im not a hunter so i dont shop at gagnons they dont sell the ammo i shoot and they are expensive

i did not often buy at wallmart

problem is soon no one will sell amoo then were all screwed

What kind of ammo can you get at Walmart that Gagnon's doesn't have?

Maybe amoungst occaisional shooters or guys who go hunting once in a while.
The only factory ammo I buy is .22lr and some shotgun ammo.

A reminder to all, do not discuss illegal export of ammunition or components from the US. Just because it's legal to import it doesn't mean it's legal to possess it in, or export it from the US.

??? Stevo, I think you need to go back and re-read this thread!:onCrack: ;)

Personally, the only ammo I used to buy at Wal-Mart was the bulk Federal .22LR "Valu-Paks" they used to stock, but I know lots of guys who purchase all their hunting ammo there. Ours is still stocking ammo, but I've noticed that they hardly carry any hunting/gun accessories anymore. Only cleaning supplies are in the form of complete Hoppes kits. No individual brushes, swabs, patches, etc... The local Cdn Tire has a better selection of cleaning supplies, but its all Outers stuff these days and no Hoppes.

Some don't have the space for reloading, the knowledge or the time....and for some reloading does not make sense......1 or 2 boxes a year of store bought ammo can last some people quite a long time.

Exactly, all the more reason for those guys to support the local gun store. If they are only buying a couple boxes a year, a few bucks more is neither here nor there.

I liked to buy the odd 12 guage ammo there for target shooting and bulk packs of .22

last time i tried to get .22 ammo at gagnons they had 2 50 rnd boxes at $4.00 somthing EACH and nothing else in .22

I do reload 99% of my cals i shoot i cant reload .22

Im not going to drive 45 min each way to williams for a bulk box or 2 of .22's

i do shop there but wait untill i need a buch of stuff to drive there wallmart was nice 2 mins away
