i was in walmart today and i always go by the sports counter and to my susprise they finally had some 22 to choose from. then i look at the prices remington thunder bolts $1.00 cci stingers $3.00 cci vlectors$4.00 cci mini mags 100 pack $4.00 some of thease are like $2.00 off. so i ask the guy whats the deal. he told me that they mark down prices when they are going to disconitune something. so that got me thing about all the posts i have been reading about walmart lately. so by the time there are done it looks like they will only carry a small amount of winchester. and im sure give it a couple of years are they will not carry any ammo.

I wouldn't be suprised if they dropped ammo altogether. First and last time I went to WalMart to check out ammo they didn't have any .22, and the only shotshells they had left were the Winchester bulk packs of #7 shot.

To be honest I'm not really that interested in buying much in the way of sporting goods from the the Mart of Wal. I'd rather go to a local gunshop, the people are generally more helpful, and they usually have what I'm after.

the wife is managment at Wally Mart, if they don't sell enough of a product to enable them to buy in the millions (cheaper that way). They discontinue the product. Not to mention the hassle of licencing & storage reg's they have to put up with. I buy shotgun shells there, but buy everything else from my local gun shop. A lot of people buy from Wal mart, or Wholesale Sports, ect. because they can get something cheaper than at the local guy.
BUT, if you don't buy from your local shop, pretty soon you won't have one:eek:

true, but it will be their own fault for having such ridiculous pirces:rolleyes: i could really care less if the only small hunting/fishing store goes under in brantford. he actually thinks that people will pay $1.50+ per lure or up to $10 more for turkey calls you can get at walmart. dont forget about his crazy gun prices. $400 for a standard 10/22, $325 for the lowest model 597. forget what the 870's were a couple years ago but it was about $125 more then at lebarons:rolleyes:

actually now that i think of it, he is the only small guy in town. next closest is a 30 minute drive. maybe i should look into opening my own little store and sell stuff for decent prices:D

Walmart in the US you can buy rifles etc. Personally I think there is a antigunner in there somewhere. Now wheres my tin hat...

I noticed the Walmarts in my area haven't had .22 ammo for a month now - guess that's it for ammo. Be nice if they sold off their centerfire ammo for 1/2 price. I did manage to snag five 48" long padded gun cases for $5 each (reg $20) and some Castrol 20/50 oil for $1.00 per litre.:)

+1 I used to buy Dynapoints from them but they haven't had any for close to a year now. Can't remember the last time I went to Wally World. If I buy .22lr ammo by the case at my favorite local store, I find the price is better than the Wally World or Crappy Tire bulk stuff.

Honestly, I couldn't care less ig WalMart or Canadian Tire stopped carrying ammo. I make it a personal policy to not shop at either place. I haven't stepped foot in a wal mart for over 2 years

I'm not sure about whether or not they're still going to stock .22 ammo at my Wal-Mart, but the last time I went to buy ammo there (Canadian Tire was renovating and as a result had all the ammo put away), the customer service rep said to me:

"Ammo? Why would you want that? Don't you know guns are bad?"
I was polite and kidded with her a bit so she'd shut up, but I wish I'd insulted her niavete, but I needed a box of .30-30 so I could go rob banks and kill kittens

I don't think I'd bother going back to buy ammunition there again, unless to antagonize that same woman.

They seem to be getting rid of their Federal ammo and concentrating on the Winchester ammo. I just came back from the local Walmart and pretty much all the federal ammo is markded down. Bought 2 boxes of federal .270 for $12 each.

About a third of USA Wal-Marts are dropping firearms and ammo.
There is not enough demand they claim. This was in the paper a month ago
or so.

Thunderbolts are the only reliable ammo for my Nork M-93 Woodsman clone :)

I bought a whole bunch and had about 4 duds in every 50, each had a good strike on them.

My M93 loved dynapoints (about 1-2 duds in 500) and Stingers are kind of cool in them!!! :)

I suspect a political reason from inside the company.
As ammo sales at our local Walmart in Duncan BC are pretty big.

In spite of this the ammo cabinet is getting stocked with less and less stuff, the past few years. Even the staff don't understand why this is happening.

Esp' with Walmarts instant sales record for restocking.

I haven't seen velocitors for over a year. :(

The place is totally useless to me these days.

My gun store is in the Highlands of Victoria, so it is quite the commitment to make such a drive each week.

well local Walmart have at least 1/10th on sale
I picked 10 box of CCI Stinger at 3$/each and will go buy the rest tomorow... ( ~7box)
They sell at 6.50 at local gunhop..

Edit: I didn't buy all of them since my gf complained I had enought.... bought 5x 525rnd federal pack earlier this week.
I told her "It's for when the zombies will come" .... not even a smile.....

I work at Wal-Mart, so take this with a grain (of very possibly biased) salt:

Local outdoor shop (zero dedicated gun shops in a town of 150K+ people  ) sells their "cheap" regular Remington .22mag for $10.99 a box, plus taxes. The other Remington was $15.99.

At Walmart, .22wmr Dynapoint is $6.46, PLUS I get my 10% discount. I quite litterally bought four boxes of Dynapoint yesterday for the equivalent of "regular" Remington stuff at the local shop (who also gave me pretty ####ty service, I guess the business debit card and PALs in my hand weren't a sure sign I wanted to buy stuff - ). The first guy actually talked to someone else for a good five or ten minutes - without aknowledging my mere presence at any time - and then just walked away stating to the covering guy he was done his day! Needless to say, I'll try another expedition there shortly, but it seems if you aren't purchasing a gun or appear to be under the age of thirty, they don't give a flying-fish about you.

Our Super-X is 8.50ish. CCI Mag is $9.99 at Canadian Tire.

At my Wal-Mart anyways, I know the people there, and I guess that can help speed stuff up. Not only that, but the two (out of five) sporting associates who aren't too familiar with guns and such know they can page me - and I'll gladly come give a little bit of help.

LOL tell me about it,
Bought a 58" flambeau rifle case at CT for 14$ but it did fit in my trunk...
So I go to 2 good gunshop and look at their case, one is the same as mine but 24$ and others are 60$+, 2nd shop I wasn't sure, looked long and owners were pretty buzy, So I go to the armourer/gunshop that I hate.. it's 7:38pm, I enter and ask If I look for something so I say I bought a case it's too long for my trunk I need a shorter one. He they are all the same length, I say that one look a lot shorter, he say I must know...
So I look at the sticker, 48"! I say well it's 10" shorter than mine, I take it!

He say we're closed, we close at 7:30, cash register is closed come tomorow.... What a jackass, he sell stuff under the table and now he just said in said in a detourned way to go buy stuff elsewhere.. open 2day a week, 3-7:30pm.... what a joke.

went back to store 2, owner was free, took the time to go to my car with the case to see it would fit. 28$ tax in and he was friendly!

As you said if you don't buy rifle some store won't even look at you.
