Walmart not restocking ammo

i would much rather go to a real hunting store for amo and hunting related objects ..i avoid C/T also ..

I agree. However sometimes those shops just don’t work for the customers with the hours they keep. I was working in a small city with one outdoors store and the opened after I was at work and closed before I was done work. Canadian Tire and Walmart were the only options.

Walmart occassionally had a deal better than the LGS or even on line on regular pricing for stuff like like .303 and 30 30.
Walmart was cheaper than Canadian Tire.
Just less competition for the others with Walmart getting out of ammo. At least they would have kept Canadian Tire's prices in check although
CT is nothing like a local LGS I know that seems to just be trying on whatever they can get a away with.
Usually a warning sign when other stuff gets put online but not the ammo and the ammo at the counter doesn't have price stickers visible on it!

The canadian tire in Kingston on 38 hyway has lots of stuff but the one in Belleville is a big ass store for hunting and has ammo that most stores will not carry .. shells like 257 roberts and 6.5 x 55 .. Hard too beat the selection of shells for sure
For those not totally familiar with retail the bean counters calculate the (value) of every inch of retail space. If a product is not "turning over" enough to meet the threshold of whatever their minimum is, it gets pulled.
Walmart has thin margins so they count on selling 100 toasters making a few bucks per unit rather then a single toaster that makes them many bucks.
If the ammo is gone it's because they were not selling the volume to justify the shelf space which could be used to sell you some other crap.
They are not in the business of carrying the variety that "you" want, they are in the business of selling things that the "masses" will buy regularly.
Sears went bankrupt because they lost their market. They weren't the place that came foremost to mind when people went out to buy something.
And in the case of Walmart, it's just not one of the first places you think of when you need a box of ammo. And when that's the case, Walmart will delist the product. If they aren't in the top 3 places that come to mind for a product, "for them" it's wasted floor space.

Totally agree
There's 2 overpriced hunting store's in town. Walmart and Canadian tire are about the only real choice's. That's the catch about living here, selection.

I guess nobody told the managers (and they have about 7 managers) at the walmart near me that every square foot of space should pull in so much money. In fact I have remarked about that very fact several times to people. It doesn't matter what department you go into at this store, I have never seen a Walmart with so many empty shelves time after time and I'm even talking about simple common things like triple A batteries. They keep feeding the same crap that they did 20 years ago, that being that the computer orders automatically. Anyhow, the one near me has to be the worst in Canada, if not North America. As far as ammo, they quit handling that about 2 years ago, along with everything else that pertains to the sport of hunting or shooting. All they want to do is push their damn walmart credit card every time you go to the till. So I fixed the problem. I quit going to Walmart.
