Walmart Price Check. COLT LE 6920

So I was down in Indiana this week. Of course I visited a couple of gun stores.... 8 I think :)

I thought I would check out Walmart to see what they have......

There is NO Shortage of COLTS if Walmart stocks them.

Makes you wonder why they are $1850.............

THey had DPMS .308's for $907! SIG M400 For $20 more than the Colt.

Every store I went too had P-mags out the bum...and Glock Mags. BGC's and LPKs were abundant.

Sooooo. If a store tells you it's hard to get.....most likely they say that to keep the price up.

Or THEY can't get any because the factory is trying to keep up with the 10000000000000 WAL-MART has ordered. Wal-mart is famous for finding out what a companies production capacity is and then placing an order for that amount. Now if you as a customer what that product, there is only ONE store that has it, WAL-MART exclusive.
And box store sporting goods stores re no better, they do the same thing. That's why they all have the "if you find this product cheaper anywhere else we'll beat it" motto, you won't find that EXAXCT product anywhere else. They bought the entire production capacity of that product.

Pisses me off because we IMORT everything and the Canadian subsidiaries of these big box stores have different warehouses they supply from. Canadian and American.
What we really need is a Canadian ammunition factory...or 20

And they usually demand to be supplied at a much lower price.

Walmart is the single largest gunseller and ammo seller in the US, they get Colt before some wholesalers get Colts, and they sell them at the same price as some wholesalers pay. You have to love a store where you can get beer, Doritos, an AR and ammo in one place.

What's wrong with the Canadian Wallys then?

American peolpe can't keep buying forever.

The panic buying is cool down now. And I guess most peolpe max out their credit card too

Now it's the time to pay the bill. Before buying anymore lol

Just a temporary correction. Americans love their guns. As soon as their GF/wives stop nagging at them, it's time to add more toys to the man cave gun room.

you got it bro...

Well
Mobile 1 engine oil
Canada 4.5 liter $56
US Walmart. 5 qt = 4.73 liter $22.5

Hagan Doze ice cream
Canada 500 ml $6.99
US Walmart 473ml $3.68

You name it !!

High prices. Minimal selection.

I bought 2 simple items at USA Walmart. 1 Gallon of Castrol Super Clean (degreaser) $9.99 and a spray on car wax. $4.97 Those exact same items here are $19.98 for the Castrol and $10.97 for the wax. Hard to explain that one.

Well
Back to few years ago when cad and usd just become 1:1
many high end cars (like Benz BMW Caddy etc ) are like $20000-30000 more in Canada
Excaly same model.
And many those company were using many dirty trick to stop Canadian buying the car from US
like void Warrenty. Prohibit the US dealer to sell the car to Canadian by threat them to take away the Franchise

$1000 doesn't sounds very big deal xD

that's brutal! $1000 more for a colt rifle than in Canada...

Well

Some submitted documentation the Transport Canada stating that certain vehicles did not meet Canadian standards so they would not be allowed to be imported.
Of course there were no difference in the actual vehicles, they just were protecting their CDN Dealers. They did not want CDN's crossing the border and buying.

Oh yeah
So when I help my friend (yes a very rich friend) to get his brand new 2011 Porsche 911 GT3RS from Chicago
$145000 all tax duty paid shipping inculed and local dealer still want almost $190000 tax in
For Excaly same car. Same color same option.
For sure they don't want peolpe go down and buy

But as I knew transport Canada now change many collision stranded to match the US one
so we can import many US model now

This is a good post by Rhutch.

Here's mainly how most of the stuff works up in Canada a distributor gets the rights to sell a product in Canada, he pays whatever the manufacture wants, very small volume so not much leverage to drive prices. The distributor tacks on a nice profit then sells them to his dealers.
Correct. The manufacturers dictated wholesale price. Unfortunately, for some items in Canada the wholesale price is actually higher than the retail price in the US. Anyone caught selling below dictated prices loses their distributorship and gets boxed out of the industry by not just that distributor, but can get boxed out by all of them.

The dealers then add their percentage of profit on top of it and sell it to you. So you have three people at least trying to make a profit off the article, how else do they stay in business.
Correct. However, you'll notice that it's VERY rare for any gun store in Canada to offer more than 10% off their stuff, even during a fire sale. It speaks volumes as to how much money retailers make.

In the states most dealers buy direct from manufacture.
Incorrect. The US market is so huge the factories for major brand names ONLY sell to distributors, otherwise they simply wouldn't be able to field all the tiny orders they'd get.

Then there are items like Pmags that are required to be neutered prior to entering the country, someone has to open all those little bags put them in a jig drill it put in a pop rivet and put them back in the bag, kind of a pain in the bull labour intensive operation, thats not free.
Correct. Plus, if you want it done right, it can really balloon up the price. This is why many Canadian vendors are favouring straight unblocked 10 round mags. Less BS and they can keep the price realistic.

Then there is the importation pain in the butt with the State Department and our own government, brokerage fees, shipping.
Correct. Of course the price for this gets cheaper if you order more stuff, but frankly, the Canadian market is peanuts for size.

1: You forget that there are a few dealers that buy direct from the U.S because they have their own FFL. They don't need CDN wholesalers or Distributors. They can buy from any store and just ship it up.

2: Questar and One Shot are selling P-Mags $20 and LESS. You keep on trying to hold onto that mags are $25-$30 dream. You won't be around long.
Answer me this. 10 round pistol mags don't need to be pinned.....yet they are 50% - 100% more here in Canada.

Drill a mag. Pop a rivet. 10 seconds? 20? 1 a minute is super generous. Drill an average of 60 mags an hour? PAy a guy $10 an hour. That adds 16 cents to each mag. WOW
I can see why you perpetuate the myth riveting a mag makes a $10 mag = $25. LOL
