The CFO never checks the log books... They do store inspections to ensure that the store is in compliance with the laws, but they don't record anything from the logbooks.

I really don’t think the CFO is big enough to do store inspections to all the stores that sell ammunition in Ontario. I have asked several big box stores and they say they never been inspected, but it could be the person I am talking to doesn’t know. The gun shops seem to be on some kind of scheduled inspection, like every two years. Does anyone know for sure when or if the inspections are done?

CTC in Owen Sound, ON demands PAL and one other piece of Photo I.D. (DL etc)
They record everything including Date of Birth and complete address. When I tell them that is not required, they tell me that the "CFO's office insists upon it".
I think that Owen Sound CTC simply doesn't have a clue what they are doing because CTC in Collingwood only asks for PAL...

The ammo log isnt for the CFO, if they come in, ive been told by many owners they cant even look at it without a warrent. Only reason in ontario anything is written down, like name, address and what got purchased is because of Explosives regulations that require it or the owner can get in trouble for that.

If it was only for explosives regulations why do they also insist at recording your PAL details and address when buying lead air rifle pellets at most stores in Ontario?

I have asked at the stores and they have said that air rifle pellets are also classed as ammo by the CFO in Ontario.

The Ontario law pre-dates the CPFO by years. Bob Rae gave that to us along with the Outdoors Card Tax. I don't think the CPFO has anything to do with it. Wouldn't bet anything though.
