Walmart Winchester bulk pack ammo is crap!

I've tried both winchester & federal value pack trough my M4, a few 100-packs each, zero failure so far. However they seem to be very dirty, choke area (cylinder) was hard plated with disgusting gum-like plastic with winchester's, both left big flakes all around the trigger group, yet federal's pack were a little cleaner... For curiosity's sake, along with better ammo lookaround in mind, I bought a few boxes of Kent all-purpose & Gamebore White Gold XLC, i'm pretty sure they'll be better, they don't cost that much more. 21$ el cheapo VS 25$ for the same amount of fun but with better pattern & softer recoil trough better quality control. I'll compare this weekend with eagerness :shotgun:

What you are getting with the premium shells is hulls you can reload although there is some doubt about the new Winchester AA hulls in that regard.
And what is/are the doubts about the 'new' hulls? I just bought a flat to try out.

The two-piece AAHS hulls do not load as well as the older, one-piece hulls with non-Winchester wads.

Personally those bulk packs are great, IF your a Cowboy Action shooter!! I go through about 4-6 boxes a season and depending on the size of the steel reactive targets, they do go down. Keep in mind we also use pump shotguns and double barrels.

Ive gone through many a case of them, through several diffrent guns. H&R single, win Mod. 2200, Win Mod.50, Win model 12, mossy 590, Ithica SxS and Ive NEVER had one single misfire or Fail to eject or any other malfuntion of any kind PERIOD. Ive shot clays, Grouse,Rabbits with em and no problems. For $20 I think thats an awesome deal.

I used the bulk pack last time I went skeet shooting and didn't have any problems in my o/u. They had quite a bit more kick then the usual AA's I shoot (I've never had a problem with the AA's, my favorite shell).

But it's been mentioned a few times, they arn't really a good deal. At BPS you can get a flat of Remington game loads for $42!

of course it's crappy your getting it at wal-mart but i use them all the time in all my shotguns and i've never had jams with them they are bad shells and i don't buy them unless i have to. but they still work in my shot guns

In a pinch, I did buy a 4-box party pack of Winchester 7.5s last summer. About ~25% of the shells were belled out at the crimp and wouldn't chamber in my 11-87. After I ran them through the final crimp stage of the MEC to straighten them out, they held up and shot well enough on the sporting clays course.

Agree 100% with Claybuster. Point indeed. Why put 4th rate ammunition
( Therer, I'll say it again, Winchester or Federal or anybody else's "Promo" marketting aside - since when did you believe everything you read in advertising ) in your first class gun.

Agree! Ya get what ya pay for! I can not understand those who cheap out and then complain? Numb Nutz is appropriate!

BTW I use the cheap stuff for those easy skeet shots and I actually think they work better for those close sporting shots.

Seems to be some QC issues with this stuff ( Winchester )

My brother bought a 100 rds box from Canadian Tire a couple of weeks ago . Off we went to shoot some trap . He had a couple of rounds fail to feed in his Remington 58 . We took a good look at the remaining rounds , about 50% had bulged hulls  .

I'll be sticking with the slightly higher priced stuff .

Are the Federal bulk packs any better ?

Craig

I like those cheap Federal Top Guns. I think they work well out to mid yardage handicap. Price about 45.00/250
