Walnut blasting media screen size

Been looking at walnut blasting media. I'm not too keen on paying 20 bucks for 3 lbs of the lyman stuff when my tumbler holds about 4 1/2 lbs with 200 rifle brass in there. I found a place that sells 50lb bags for about 50 bucks, but i'm unsure what size to get. Medium is 12/20, and the maximum size for 12 is larger than your average flash hole. 20/40 will have tiny pieces as low as .009 in the mix. Some 18/22 would be nece if it existed.

Just wondering if anyone has ever bothered using this stuff, and if so, what size did you use?

I use whatever pet stores sell.
It's cheap as well. Not as cheap as the $1/lb

X2 on the pet store stuff...lizard bedding. I bought a 10lb bag 3 years ago and it's still 2/3 full.

Sorry...I guess that doesn't answer your question about the screen size....the lizard bedding cleans well, and I don't have to go mining walnut pieces out of the primer pockets

check out princess atuo, they have blasting size walnut @ about a $1/pd ,in 20 or 25pd bags, it works well for me, 32,9,40,45. tumbling both before or after depriming, any leftover in the prm pocket gets knocked out with the 1st stage if your progessive.

Go to a welding supply store or do a canada411 on abrasives. You want medium ground walnut shells. If you're pay $50 for a 50lb bag, you're paying double what you should. I bought a 50lb bag last year that was right around the $25 mark.

I went to a couple local sandblasting places, and they quotes me 80-100 bucks for a 50lb bag, so i figured $50 was a pretty good deal. The only problem is that it'll probably cost me another $50 to ship it, so i'm in the same boat. I figured the local guys could just get it sent with all their stuff, and freight wouldn't cost very much at all, but apparently they want to use me as an excuse to offset their shipping costs (or make 200% profit).

Rgarding pet store: Pet stores around here sell corncob, but no walnut. I tried some out, and ended up with a couple hundred .223 cases packed full of media that i can't get out. I'm leery to try anythign bigger than the coarse blasting grade.
