I would not recomend using Brasso to polish brass. Brasso has ammonia in it and it will cause the brass to weaken.

Myth (sorry)

Not enough ammonia to do anything to the brass. Maybe if you soaked the brass in concentrated ammonia for a while......


Also tried Nufinish and was not impressed with the results. Generally use an abrasive additive, Lyman, Dillon, whatever is around. The Lyman (for untreated media) in the 20oz container is pretty cheap at about $15 and is good for a lot of media. (25 to 50 lbs or so)

Walnut fine, from oil-field mud supply companies. $28 a 50 pound bag when I have to buy it, free if a derrickhand throws it on the back of my truck. Happens sometimes.
