You guys are hilarious!
I missed the bargain .22 PPK on the EE that just sold on the weekend for $675, in under 5 minutes. Way under priced, lots of interest. I find after something like that happens, there's usually a post like this, with people saying "no way it's worth half of what it went for", etc. Sorry, gotta call B.S.
The PPK in .22 is the nicest PPK, in my opinion, period. They are also less common and hence, more sought after. Sure I have others, but my favorites are the .22 LR pistols in PP and PPK. They don't bite either, unlike the .32 and .380 with their famous "slide bite".
Claw, if your TPH is unreliable, it's certainly fixable. There are a few well-known problems that develop, usually as a result of dry-firing. The damage is often obvious when you field strip the pistol, or detail strip it (carefully) and examine the firing pin. Definitely fixable. The TPH is nowhere near the pistol that the PPK is, though. The TPH was a CIA field piece, some people like that.
As for the .22 PPK, I have yet to see a bad one, made in Europe. There was a guy on here who had a pre-war PPK in .22, the barrel of which had been completely worn out. Still fixable, and definitely worthwhile. I think the German PPK/S is more exciting to the collector crowd in .22, I prefer the PP or the PPK myself. Many of the PPK/S pistols are Interarms, hence, worth less money (to me). People still get 4 figures for these pistols in excellent (or better) condition -- prohibited. A cheap one, at $675, really gets the EE going.
A German-made PPK in .22, in excellent condition ... almost free? Dream on. There's a much better chance someone will sell you their house in Toronto or Vancouver for half price. If you're going to dream, go ahead, dream big!
Unfired German PPK in .22 lr, complete ... you might find a seller if you offered $1500. I still wouldn't sell one of mine. You can always find another $1500. The money will be spent in a heartbeat. The pistol you're looking for is a keeper, so it won't show up for years, and when it does, someone else won't blink at the price. They're definitely worth looking for, though!
