Hello everyone,

I am starting to get ready to move to IE and have slowly started purging my firearm inventory, Im looking to get a rough price on my Walther GSP .22lr and .32 upper. I don’t want to hose the person that is interested but I cannot seem to find my invoice for it. I seem to remember the cost with 2 extra mags was over 2k at the time but maybe someone here has some more info.

Hi…I bought a matching pair in the early 1980’s so I wouldn’t have to switch between 22LR and 32S&W. They were $1,500.00 each back then. I ended up needing to buy a replacement barrel and that was another $400.00. They were an incredibly well made target pistol, extremely rugged, reliable and supremely accurate, more than capable to dominate to national and international levels, STILL !!
If you are offering someone this package at $2,000.00 he should consider it a gift and be grateful. This is a an opportunity to continue in the sport of serious precision pistol target shooting for somebody just entering this discipline. One of the few doors still open. I’ve sent my GSP’s to hopefully a future generation, I still have my gold and silver medals, and memories.
 
In 1991, I paid $1500 for a 3 calibre used GSP. It was used very hard by previous owner. Still have the .22kurz (short) upper and old trigger..was it 2004 they changed the rules? Still capable of one-hole grouping with the .32s&w long at 25m… I can’t do that any more, but the pistol can. To be honest, I really paid/traded a hi standard victor, a S&W model 52, and $500 for the 3 calibre set.
 
Im not going to put a value on yours but I bought two and the first was $250 and the second which i bought to gain extra mags was $275. I gave the one pistol away to a fellows son on here. Yes it was just before all the BS started, and was legally transferred the proper way at the time. Mine were both 22 short. As MR Bill stated, well built,extremely accurate and he would know. I seen his pistol hardware and it would sink a medium sized yacht!!

sadly the value of the .22 short version of the upper receiver lost most of its value when ISSF changed the rules for rapid-fire match, from .22 short, ported barrel permitted, no-load-rollover trigger - to - standard pistol (.22LR, no ports in the barrel, 1000g trigger)

It was fortunate for me. As you’ve mentioned the prices tanked on the 22 short versions. The only drawback is that top quality short ammo is no longer produced after the change to 22LR. I was fortunate and able to acquire a good amount. Great guns!

For a wilderness ATC, it needs to be a caliber that is effective for protection from wildlife. Usually something like 10mm and above. For people who have a registered trap line, they can carry any caliber that can humanely dispatch a trapped animal, so 22lr is ok there for small mammals. The CFO would closely review any handgun purchase to make sure it is inline with the stated purpose.
