Walther HK G36 .22LR Info and Reference

I think Walther doesn't have the trademark license anymore, this rifle first came out in 2015 with other HK offerings from I think 2012. Walther or HK probably decided to not renew the trademark license, and thus the web is stricken free of HK branded Walther items.

Thats why I'm trying to preserve as much information as I can scavenge from forums, and videos in case they decide to disappear.

Only info I can find is from dealer adds, nothing from any manufacturer.

Do these have a barrel sleeve like the GSG and ISSC rimfire rifles ?

Quick short range report.

Testing out the rifle I fired 250 rounds of .22LR HV ammo, mixed between Federal automatch, CCI mini mag, and CCI AR Tactical. 1 Failure to chamber 1st round, flawless running otherwise. Rear sight is too adjustable as it does not lock into either flipped position potentially leading to small inaccuracies. I didn't try a group test as I know I'm a lousy shot standing and I didn't have time to do it justice but I would guess about 8" spread at 25 yards. I was pulling the trigger quickly just dumping rounds for function testing, do not take this guess as an accuracy test.

The trigger has a 0 weight short take up, before it hits the wall then it breaks cleanly with no steps or creep.

There’s many plastic centre fire rifles out there... they seem to be doing fine

Unfortunately the original G36 is not one of them and there are numerous reports of wandering accuracy due to overheating of the sight trunnions one of the main reason for the bundeswehr looking for a new rifle. The HK433 seems to be the front runner for the contract.

I doubt this will be a major issue with the .22lr version as it's pretty hard to overheat a .22lr not impossible.

Just got mine in the mail.

Added a new forestock so I could put on the HK bipod. So far I'm surprised at how light it is! It feels sturdy enough... Ill update after i shoot it.

I was wondering what the #### you did to the handguard, but yeah looks a lot closer to the HK G36. Like I said in the OP this is a mishmash of the G36K handguard with the G36 length barrel.

Ya I REALLY wanted to have the traditional bipod, this handguard fit no problem at all. Sourced from a fellow CGNer who was involved in SL8 adaptations. Full disclosure.... the bipod is an airsoft clone... 1/4 the price but feels solid enough for what I will need on a .22.

Also for note... I bought medium height rings hoping to keep the optic as low as possible considering how high it already is mounted in relation to the barrel... I had to remove the rear iron sight for it to fit in order to get good eye relief.

I mean I don't think any of us is planning on running and gunning with a .22LR that needs 100% reliability when "your life is on the line". Airsoft parts get the job done in the looks department, plus the JG G36 HK rear sight actually locks and is probably better then the Walther one I might order one. I shoot steel challenge and want to stay in the Rimfire Ironsight divison.

Just back from the range with mine... 400 rounds of CCI stinger... not 1 FTF or FTE.. flawless at all shooting speeds.

At 25 yards from a bench using both front bag and the bipod i was getting 2" groups.

At 100m.... I had Minute of Barn door.

Using a Bushnell AR optics 1-4x... I may have over tightened everything thinking some of the accuracy problems was the mounting... but pretty consostent at 25m so who knows.

Yikes! The idea of shooting a 22 is to have fun while saving money. Glad you had fun though and the rifle ran well.

Cheers

I saw there is a member who is selling a G36 fore stock which looks exactly like the one you have. He mentions that it's a "version 4". Do you know if it's the one you have? Just want to make sure the fitment before I pay.

Thanks.

If you PM me the ad I can have a look... I'm not sure the generations of mine.
