Walther JR Sniper 308 Experts???

Are there any Walther JR Sniper experts out in cyberland who can shed some more light on the rifle? For those that don't know it was a 308 'sniper' rifle made by Walter for the German Military and was used as a stop gap until the famed WA2000 appeared. This is ALL I know about the rifle. Was it really fielded? How many were made. Did many make it into Canada? Anyone here shoot them? What is the good bad and ugly on the rifle? Here is a picture.

I've owned and shot one for a few years for metallic silhoutte as well as the matching one in 22RF. At one time McDougall Imports on Vanc. Island sold Walther rifles.
The JR sniper rifle was an extremely accurate rifle shooting Lapua D46 185gr FMJ and Lapua 123gr FMJ. Commonly shot the 185s to sub 1/4 MOA @ 100mtrs and the 123s to 1/2 MOA.
Trigger was fully adjustable two stage as well as the trigger shoe is fully adjustable for tilt and length of pull {3/8" forward and back}. I had on one occassion pulled the barrel from the action and discovered Walther used shims to adjust for the headspace and the locking lugs were held into the action using the shims and barrel. Unusual setup but not all that bad considering how accurate the unit was.

If you can find one in decent condition as indicated in your picture buy the damned rifle and don't look back!

That was a steal Must have been well used I see it has the removable magazines unlike the one in my op. Last one that went on egun was up around 3k euros.

How hard are they to find and what's a decent price? I have seen only one for sale in all of north America, ever.
 
No body else? Anybody else ever see one? Hold One shoot one?

I am guessing there are less than 5 in the country, judging by the silence here, can't be too far off.
