I finally had some time today to try out my newly aquired KKJ-T
I was fighting the wind all day and also had to find a new bush spot as someone beat me to my other.Wind was steady blowing from the right to left.It wasn't the most comfortable set up but non the less it wasn't bad.I had to re set my eye relief as the scope was a good 1" too far forward.I never cleaned the rifle since I got it but I did run a few dry patch's through the bore while swapping ammo.
I don't think it will have too much trouble making the 1/2" challange.I missed it by a hair on 2 of my ammo testing groups.I'm also going to take the action out of the stock and inspect everything plus do a thourough cleaning of the rifle.

Awww man, missed the 1/2" challenge by a hair! Might just need a cleaning. Looks good though, on a calm day you'll nail it no problem :) I got a couple things in the mail on route to me, my goal is that I won't post a successful challenge with them unless the groups are all in the .2's or better. 1/4" at 50 yard club anyone? lol. My journey down the rabbit hole grows deeper every day.
 
That rifle looks great in the sunlight. The results are very promising, too.
The KKJ has a narrow forestock. For greater stability in the front rest, try something like a piece of leather, perhaps folded twice or more. I use one when shooting rifles with a narrow forearm and find it helps.

That is a beautiful spot you found to test your rifle today Ryan. You came soooo close on your first try, I'm sure you will have no trouble next time if you use the Centre-X or SK-RM.

I took it apart, it looks like new inside. I found another trigger adjustment screw on an angle that gets rid of all the creep. There's also a screw behind the front action screw that tighten s up the bolt when it locks down. I snugged it a tad,readjusted the trigger, cleaned everything and retorqued to 24 inches lbs and remounted my scope. Good to go, next time I'll probably go to the range with it.

That's out of my reach, too. That would take a superlative shooter with top flight equipment and ammo -- and a fair bit of practice. A few have done it so its certainly something to work toward.

Yes I got my one challenge group in with all .2's with my 1813. I haven't done it since.

Hehe, I won't expect to hit that every time, but that is my goal. Shoot enough targets and one should come together for me on a nice, calm day. I need something to challenge me, 1/2" @ 50 just isn't doing it for me anymore.

Just start reusing some of your previous guns. Then repost it, and state in your post that that gun has already completed the challenge. Maybe I could do an honorable mentions section in the successful list for guys that have all their groups under .250". Sorry to high jack. Maybe we could have a short discussion about it in the 1/2" thread.
 
Had a better day today second time out.Rifle is very sensative to action screw torgue.
Started at 24 inch lbs with a shot gun pattern,quickly dropped to 20 then groups tightened up.
Still not happy I backed of the screws another 1/4 turn and did some more testing.
Managed 2 succesfull challenge groups and had one with a .3464 average and unfortunatly one screw up on my part as I got 3 in the .2's all on my last group of the day
I have the trigger working beautifully 0 creep and breaks at 1lb
This is a very capable 22lr and with a flatter bench rest fore end i'm sure its capable of better.
I also had the range to myself today and used my old Rock rest as the front bag off my BR fit the stock better.
It also seemed to like all manner of Centre X that went through it 4 different lot #s
Hated Midas+
Once again very happy with these old German rimfires

I really enjoyed it today once I retorqued it.The low comb wasn't an issue. Trigger could be a tad lighter but that's as low as I can get it. I may fab up a plastic plate on the front of the stock and attach it with the sling stud as the forend is narrow. It seemed to like any Center-X I used. Way more bang for the buck compared to a CZ.

These 'vintage' guns shoot very well indeed. Congratulations on the groups. Now the obsession to push for better and better begins. Many folks do not appreciate the level of concentration and discipline it takes to get groups like this.

Thanks I really enjoy the challenge of trying to get the rifle too shoot it's best without going custom. It's amazing what ammo,action screw torque, rifle hold,wind can make on your group's. Those German rimfire manufacturer's sure can build them. I'll be on the hunt for another.

Btw have you tried moving your trigger shoe yet? When making adjustments ((i usually do mine at home) trigger shoe distance can also help find the best balance between wieght and throw distance when on the bench. I set my own to the midpoint of the pivot mechanisim and tried groupings. Then moved the shoe fore and aft until I found my own sweet spot.

Also, when you have the bolt apart one day, take a look at the firing pin. Thoroughly clean and then move your fingers around the sides, top and bottom to check for any burrs or carbon coking damage. I used 1000 g wet dry well oiled on a chunk of flat glass to gently massage the sides and top. The bottom area I lightly cleaned up with baking soda paste. I had planned to use a crocus cloth or some rouge on the engagement surfaces but I was not confident to go that far.

At any rate, clean the firing pin hole, firing pin, bolt etc, re-lube all parts and reassemble.

Small changes, including cleaning them up like when they were new is amazing. The rifles really respond after some basic maint is performed
 
I've pretty much through the trigger. Yes I moved the shoe, adjusted all the take up out and backed out the weight adjustment to its lightest setting. Breaks between 1lb and 1lb 2 oz with 0 creep. I may make a bench rest plate too mount off the front swivel as the forend is narrow. Would be more stable in my rest.

I am looking for any decent BR single base rests. Cant seem to find any. I guess it is time to get off my butt and make one or draw up a set of prints and build one.
