I have one of these nice old gems but like many others I'm told, the rear sight is in need of repair. Does anyone have an idea where I could send mine to have it properly repaired? I'd like to keep it and start using it but it does me no good as it currently sits. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just as aside, I have three of these iconic air pistols, all mint and boxed. Back in 2003 I wrote to Walther asking if they had ANY spare parts of any kind for these and my LP2 and LP3 pistols.

The answer was a resounding no.

Meanwhile, I'll look over here for a couple of the specialist repairers, 'kay?

Wow, that's nice that you have 3 of them stashed away. Mine belonged to my grandfather who along with the men in his church formed their own small airgun and pistol club back in the 1960s and 70s. I just need to get the rear sight working properl as right now it wants to move around alot. Other than that, it functions nicely and appears to be quite accurate.
 
Nossir, definitely NOT stashed away and rotting in their dust-gathering boxes, but taken out regularly and shot, as the GFO intended them to be. I'm holding one in my paws right now, and trying to figure out what might have gone amiss with yours. A somewhat better explication would be appreciated, please.

Hey, no big deal. Just how hard is it to help out a shooting buddy?

I hope you get it fixed - they sure are a bunch of fun to shoot, and need real concentration to shoot well on account of the wacky recoil impulse. If you want to try a non-recoiling Walther pistol from a slightly later era, try the LP2 or 3 - it's a revelation. I turned up with mine as a right-handed spare for a county competition - I usually shoot my Steyr LP10 left-handed. Yup, the breech seal went in the Steyr on the third shot, so I switched over to the old clunker, amidst a few hoots of derision.

An hour later, when I got handed the silver cup and medal for overall second place, there were no laffs to be heard anywhere. I was beaten by just 1 point.

Thanks again. I took the sight apart today and think I fixed the problem. The rear sight wasn't staying on the forked piece. I realized that it wasn't properly clicked into place by the rear screw and there is a little slot in there. You are correct though about getting used to it. Its gonna take me awhile to improve my accuracy. Neat little pistol though and it belonged to my grandpa so has sentimental value. Thanks again to all who rang in.
