Walther P22???

Check almost any of the sponsors at the top of the page. Shops have a bunch of them since nobody in their right mind actually buys the POS. There's also a metric f*ckton of them on the used market.
 
I am new to the pistol shooting world, friends at the range told me to avoid the p22 at all costs, mainly because of the costs it would incurr apparently they are of poor quality and are manufactured using some funky particle bonding process that isn't quite there yet, plus they are quite expensive compared to the tried and true rugers, brownings. and for the money you could buy a gun like the first I ever shot, a s&w 41, used of course they seem to pretty good and I would like to pick one up someday.

My P22 has never given me any problems, likes both high velocity and standard ammo. It is a good .22 to practise DA/SA with. A S&W 41 is in a different class altogether, shoots very accurately with the right kind of ammo but is extremely picky with ammo.

I shot the P22 at two separate "open houses", I was impressed with the quality and accuracy BUT boy is that grip small !!!:p I never really considered myself to have big hands, medium/average size I'd say. The grip on the P22 would be suitable for a 10 year old or maybe a very petite woman in my opinion.

I think a Ruger 22/45 or S&W 22A are better choices. I have been looking for a 22 and I shot the Ruger and I am going to go with that one. I haver heard the S&W 22A is also good.
 
The P22 is a great little gun. There were some somewhat serious issues with the older generation guns but they've been fixed in the last three or four years.

The grip is small. The frame of the gun is based on the P99 but at 75% scale. I have somewhat large hands - not bear paws - but certainly not medium or small. (I wear a large glove comfortably.) Using mags with the finger rest, I can comfortably shoot the P22 with no issues.

I've heard that the manufacturing process leaves the slide vulnerable to cracking after 50,000+ rounds and at least one member has posted pictures on here to show this. Whether this issue was fixed or not, I'm not aware.

It's a fun gun to shoot and the worst problem I have is that one in twenty casings ejects straight up and lands in my hair while shooting.
 
have one, and love it. bought it used, and have shot about 1500-2000 rounds through it already. never a problem firing the cheapest .22 ammo (unlike my AA G17 kit, that is pretty ammo picky). can be pretty accurate too, but the sights are a bit coarse. only actual issue i have encountered is that the slide stop spring broke, and I'm waiting for Walther to send me a replacement, but surprisingly the gun still works even without the spring :)
