Did they Give the Walther P99 a new look? I played with one back in 2003 and the ones I see now are looking a tad different, from what I remember.

Still thinking of picking up one of these things, since they were so much fun, would like a nice 9mm or .40 to add to my collection. .45 is too much sometimes.

So is there some new Redesign or am I just insane in the membrane?

Danke

The S&W versions are Walther licensed 'copies' sold as S&W. I thought production of those SW99s ceased or something....

There have been various versions of the P99. I don't know of any frame redesigning(if those are the changes you mean) but possibly you mean the trigger systems offered?

Oh and there are the compact versions

....bitte schön...

yes the new P99s are different, they now have a standard rail and more curves on the slide, serrations are a bit different, decocker is smaller, bottom of the trigger guard no longer has that 'bump' etc..

I think I like the older one better in OD green, that's the one I played with. Hard call if I still like the look... Maybe I can find a older model in good conditon or something. oh well not like I'm buying one tomorrow. sigh.

The more you stare at both of them the more you begin to see the differences. At first glance they look pretty similar. The slide is definitely different. I like the new look of the slide, very cool. It looks a little XP' ish

I have handled them. They are the most ergonomic and comfortable handgun you will ever handle in your life.

I did like it, I handled another one a few weeks ago at a Gun Store in Truro. It was used and had skateboard tape all over the grip, was used for IPSC, price seemed a little high for the condition was in.

I like how well it lined up in my hands with the sights, insstant target picture. Got me Thinking again about the Pistol. And then saw the new picture and thought something was off.

I like the Trigger guard Bump and the angles etc. I'm still not sure on the new one. hmmmn GRRR

I kinda liked the hard angled, slabsided look of the old slide. The grip is nice with its curves, but the trigger suffers from modern pistol-itis... Long, squooshy, icky feel compared to a good SA trigger a la 1911 or DA/SA revolver in SA.

*sigh*

one of the big complaints in the Walther forums about the old trigger guard design was the bump right under the trigger, some users claimed it pinched their fingers... and ground down the bump, so i guess in the new guard that's one of the things they took out... it never bothered me tho, cuz i usually shoot /w gloves on...

just got my od military green p99 from germany and I must say its the best thing Ive fired yet. I believe the tan one in the upper pics is made in the usa and you cannot get true green unless you get it from germany.
If its good enough for the chick in underworld its good enough for me!
