Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this handgun?
I'm interested in the Walther P99 AS in .40S&W.

I noticed P&D has this same handgun in 9mm, anyone know where I can get it in .40? I've emailed P&D to see if they can get it in .40, no reply yet. I plan to email Wolverine's as well.
Also price, who would be the best?
Feel free to post some pics of this firearm and tell me your thoughts.

I've not shot one....only held, well, ok, fondled one. Never has a pistol just felt so right. The grip is truly amazing. If I had the bucks, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Enjoy yours. P.S. I do know that Epps had some a short time ago....might be worth a call.
 
I have the P99 titanium slide. Awesome pistol! I have been shooting it for around 5 years now and never had an issue. Like the previous post, the grip is very nice. It shoots around 2" groups at 20 yards.
 
I wouldn't get one in .40. Its supposed to already be a very snappy gun in 9mm.

They are supposed to be very accurate for slow and deliberate shooting.
 
+1 skip .40 and stick with 9mm

You'll shoot more, more often, more accurately, with less failures, for less money. Depending on where you are, you can buy good factory 9mm for less than you can load the same quality product yourself. There's a huge variety of ammo available.

Other 9mm Walthers are good, except the P1 of course.

P88 = fabulous gun, P5 = maybe even more fabulous, I love them both, I'm looking forward to finding out how fabulous the P99 is.
 
I just shot one the other day. Love the look and feel of the gun...could not stand the trigger though. VERY long take-up I found. But I suppose this is just a preference thing.

Ammo availability is not a big deal for me. The P99 is a gun I've been looking at for sometime and I've made a lot of impulse purchase since wanting a P99. The thing I'm not sure about is buying a AS or QA version. To me the AS seems to have more 'trigger positions' where as the QA is more like the other firearms I own, Glock etc.
 
I've owned both the AS & the QA (both in .40). I kept the QA even though the trigger is criminally heavy and creepy. I reworked the trigger group and have brought the pull down to a point where shooting 50 rounds doesn't result in my trigger finger cramping up from the pain.

My reason for choosing the QA has more to do with keeping the gun loaded but decocked and useless for unfamiliar hands (long story). Fact is though, the AS is a great gun and is the winner hands-down. Get a 3rd Gen AS in .40 and enjoy ;)
 
Does anyone know where you can purchase a Canadian barrel for these? I've looked online but have not been able to find anything yet without purchasing from walther brand new which i kind of would like to avoid considering the prices you can pick these up from the states.

I have a 9mm P99 AS. It does have a fairly long pull on the first shot, but the reset is incredibly short and I don't find it too heavy. The grip, as mentioned, feels awesome in the hand. I haven't had any malfunctions that weren't caused by my thumb riding the slide stop. The only reason I don't shoot it more is, ... I don't know why I don't shoot it more. I guess know who I'm taking to the range next.
 
The P99's are good guns in opinion. Like some one said, stick to the 9mm. It was designed for 9mm so..... Remember also that this is not a very heavy gun so you don't want to shoot rounds that are too snappy because you’ll be all over the place..

Mine has the long mag release that runs under the trigger guard. The trigger isn’t the greatest but not any worse that the factory Glock. The one feature that I really like is the decker and the indicator on the back.
