The tip of my Walther P99AS striker broke with dry firing. A bit bizarre, my old P99 (original one no AS) was drying fired 1000's of times with no snap caps with no problems.
The broken tip prevented the striker from positioning and the DA trigger didn't work. When I stripped the slide, and removed the striker, the broken tip slid out of the firing pin channel. My Walther is now neutered.
I suggest all Walther owners use a snap cap when drying firing.
