So this gun came out, received some rave reviews on youtube (most of which are probably paid), and then disappeared.

No new owner reviews. Nothing about experiences ordering optic plates. Nothing about holsters and magazines.

Was this an overhyped flop then?

I know I've seen threads. Everyone was pissed with the importer as the optic plates were for a Q5 match and didn't fit... Apparently they're still waiting for replacements!! That's not the fault of the pistol though... Mags for the PDP Compact are the same as a PPQ M2, so no fear about getting them. Full size are their own animal...

With all of the drama relating to the optics plate now behind us, what we are left with is arguably the best, out-of-the-box 9mm Striker-Fired handgun produced to date. The PDP compares very favourably with the CZ P10F OR, the FN 509 Tac, the HK VP 9, and other high(er) end duty handguns. The PDP has a well-balanced combination of outstanding features ranging from the superb ergonomics to the sublime Trigger stroke. The PDP has no "weak" attributes - everything functions precisely as it ought to, and to an exceptionally high standard. If you can't tell by now, I reallly like mne....

Hickok45 does get paid , but it’s not from the manufacturer’s.

Yes but Hickok45 loves literally every gun so while it's endless entertaining to watch him make shots at ridiculous distances, I kinda take his "positive" review with a grain of salt.

I wish they offered it with a paddle magazine.

Was the initial release just the full size frame in the 5" slide? or was the compact version released as well?. This pistol could give Glock, SIG and S&W a run for there money for duty pistol selection in the future with various agencies looking for a replacement pistol? if the price point is line with other submissions?

VERY hard to compete with Glock for duty contracts... They are very predatory; almost giving the pistols away.

me too. have it on my P99 and love it.

with Hickok you have to read between the lines. He likes most (don't we all?) but doesn't like everything.

only full size and compact 5", or full size 4.5". wish they made a compact 4.5".

Best striker fired Plastic handgun made to date. Outstanding in every category. Almost (like my PPQ's) as accurate at my all steel Sig X5's, which is super frustrating as it costs about one quarter of the price. This gun is like they talked to Duty users....but actually listened and made the gun! Upgrade from the PPQ, which is also outstanding.

Absolutely on the Paddle release.

While I never take Hickok45's reviews seriously, it's always a good long Video where you can kind of get feel for how the firearm runs.

That's a thing of beauty. I take it that's the 4.5" version? Also, what optic do you have mounted?

Yes, it is the 4.5" Barrel on a Full-Size Frame. The MRDS optic is a Trijicon RMR model RM-06. The Adjustable LED RMRs are the only version worth owning IMHO, as the other models have fatal flaws (eg. no dot in bright sunlight!). I installed Shadow Systems medium-height Night Sights on my PDP, which co-witness perfectly with the Red Dot due to the low deck-height of the RMR optic.

Yet another "best striker fired pistol" in a long line of "best striker fired pistols".

People are too much...
