Walther PP Double or Single Action ???

I have got myself a nice Walther PP it seems to be single action, I have been shooting it from a holster for a while and wondered why it would not be double action... when you draw you must flip the saftey off and then #### the hammer seems kind of slow if you ask me. You cant saftey and leave the hammer back like on a 1911 either because the saftey on the pp is a decocker too.

Wondering if they are all single action or if the gunsmith assembled it wrong after the barrel conversion.
 
The safety is a decocker. Apply the safety, then take it off. The gun will fire double action first shot, then single action thereafter. You can't carry one cocked and locked, just decocked, or decocked and locked.
 
Wont work for me.

Steps I am doing;
Mag in
Slide back chambers a round, leaves the hammer back
Put on the saftey which lowers the hammer
Holster
Draw
Saftey off
You can pull on the trigger till you snap it off and the hammer wont move
You must manually #### the hammer back and then fire

That is the way it is supposed to work.

Something is either broken or installed wrong. When you say that you can " pull on the trigger till you snap it off " do you mean that the trigger will not move rearward or that it does come back but not #### the hammer ???
 
After you have drawn the firearm and turned off the saftey is is in my impression you should be able to pull the trigger and fire the gun... if I put pressure on the trigger it feels like if I put more pressure on the trigger I am going to break something.

The trigger will not move at all unless you manual #### the hammer back and then pull the trigger the gun works fine this way once its fired the first shot you just pull the trigger till the mag is empty.

I have shot lots of double action pistols before.
 
No worries finally got it going... I think the gun is from 1969 and hadn't been shot much the double action must be one of the heaviest double actions. If you put light increasing pressure on it it feels like its going to break but eventually it pulls past and works like a double actions is quite heavy... maybe is dirty and it needs to be lubricated and cleaned?
 
I dont think thats the problem :D I do alot of manual labour type work in my spare time.

They are all double action I have used them all before and the double action on them seems to be 1/3 the weight of the walther. I think I will break it down and clean up everything on the internals and then report back.
