Hi, i've searched on the internet to find answer for this question but it's still unanswered, does the german walther ppk barrel can be removed easily (like someone like me, not a gunsmith) because some places says it is a fixed barrel, other, press fitted barrel, other say you can just remove it with a soft faced hammer, and someplace they sell walther ppk barrel... so i think it is possible... so i thought maybe some CGNer's would know (any personnal experiences in field stripping ppk and successfully/unsuccessfully removing barrel?)

Thank you very much

So, with a normal toolbox and normal gun knowledge, would i be able to remove the barrel without damaging anything, any chance of having a step by step tutorial? :S

Thank you very much

Well, i think if i can do it, why not? cleaning a barrel with the frame attached to it seems weird and i would like to clean/remove (not all the time i clean it) but if i would like to do a total dissassembly, i would like to know how to do it (and also, i would like to know i could remove it to place another one if i ever see one in better shape, etc)... So, how could i remove the cross pin without damaging it (and is there really only a cross pin?) i didn't find anything showing it properly on the net...

thank you very much

The barrels are pressed in, and have a pin as well. The pins usually come out fairly easy. Its getting the barrel out of the frame that can poss a problem. Its best to completly strip the pistol, then place it in a press ( properly blocked in place) and press it out! You may get luckly and be able to knock it out with a hammer and a block of wood, but I wouldnt count on it.

Barrel Press

The guys that do this more often either make or buy a barrel press. In the USA they could get these from makarov.com, and the press would work for barrels up to PP length.

For cleaning, the barrel on a PP, PPK, Makarov, etc. is NOT removed. The fixed barrel, as long as the barrel crown is good, is why these guns can be very accurate.

I hope this helps.

Thanks, so another question concerning those barrel press, does it goes through the border without any problem or since it is gun related it could get complicated?

Thank you
