I just picked up a PPQ (mm with the threaded barrel. I am not a huge fan of the threaded cap, so I was wondering if:

-Anyone has had the barrel cut down to 106mm and what that would look like?

- A decent looking muzzle break?

The other thing I was looking for was 10 round magazines.

Impressive gun. I am blown away by the trigger. I thought my G34 was the standard in polymers... I am now converted. Now if I can get used to the paddle release.;)

Thanx

Looks aren't everything, and you sort of get used to it after a while. My PPQ is very accurate at the moment, and I wouldn't want to risk screwing things up for a better looking barrel.

You can buy magnum research mags that are identical to the PPQ mags, and cost significantly less, but I have no idea where they're being sold at the moment.

Also, I just measured the barrel, and if you were to cut the threaded portion off, it would end up being exactly 106mm. Now you have me tempted ...

I just take the cap off when I'm shooting. Took my PPQ out last week. I like my M&P9 but the PPQ is a lot more accurate while having a much nicer trigger. I did try a M&P with an Apex trigger job that was competition grade and amazing. However the PPQ was definitely more accurate. I won't be messing with anything on mine. I was shooting 147 fmj stuff. I haven't even tried finding the ammo it really likes yet. It's a keeper.

Had read on a post in this forum a while back that the way walther measures and the Canadian law dictates barrel length measurement are two different animals. Also recall the post saying that there would be a thread or two on the muzzle end remaining when cut to minimum restricted length.

According to the other thread on this pistol, it was explained that shortening the barrel would make it prohib. It's true. However, it was suggested the P99 barrel would fit and is the right length. Why wouldn't Walther just throw this barrel on it and call it the Canadian edition. Apparently Canada is not that important to go through all this trouble. I am not crazy about the threaded muzzle sticking out. I know many others feel the same. There is also a 5" barrel version but have not seen it in Canada. What a huge mistake. Why does S&W have so many models of the M&P available and Walther seems not so interested. Seems like an awesome pistol and would love to see one in person. My search powers might not be the best but I can't find any in B.C.

I'm not sure why everyone gets so upset over the threaded barrel. The HK P30 and HK45 also have this. If suppressors were legal we would be wanting this feature. The fact the pistol looks suppressor ready isn't a negative to me. After shooting mine, I think the pistol is up there with my HK P7 PSP for a pistol that I will never sell. I'd sell my M&P9 any day over the PPQ and I like my M&P9.

True. But the HK's also come in similar models with an unscrewed barrel for those that prefer the aesthetics of a plain front end. I am thinking it is a terrific pistol. But is also has to look purdy. I just have to try one out. Anyone ?

I've looked at my PPQ and P99 barrels and if you were to remove all of the threaded portion of the PPQ, it's still longer than Canada Legal P99 barrel.
The P99 barrel fits in my ppq, cycles dummy ammo just fine, haven't shot it to check function. The two barrels do appear identical except for length.

That might just be the perfect striker action pistol. Wish they would do it for us.

I've read in multiple posts on US forums, including posts with advice from Walther Techs that the P99 and PPQ barrels are not interchangeable.
Just get a spare threaded barrel and cut down to 107mm. The threaded barrel is more than long enough to accomplish this.

Yep. After racking my brain looking at importing one or getting the 5" version, I think cutting the barrel is probably the best solution. For some reason, I thought it would make it prohib like chopping an AR barrel but that's not the case. Now, the million dollar question. I cannot find any dealer in B.C. that carries these and I really need to hold one in my hand and try the trigger before I purchase. No dealer will take it back if I don't like it. Any one know of a dealer in B.C. ?
