For a while now my favourite polymer pistol was a Glock 17 gen4, today I found a replacement. The stock Walther PPQ M2 has a better trigger, ergonomics and controls. Even after a spring kit, connector and a tungsten guide rod, my Glock still doesn't come close to the stock PPQ.

Grips:
If you're like me and find the grip on a CZ SP-01 Shadow ranks as a 10, well the Walther's medium backstrap is a solid 9.5. The grip might be too short for a shooter with size XL hands. M and L sizes are good to go. (Mechanix Glove Sizes)

Trigger:
The best striker fire trigger I have ever felt. Smooth and crisp with a short reset.

Sights:
Standard 3 dot with adjustable rear, could be better but they work.

Controls:
Love that the slide stop and mag release are "extended" from factory. The mag release is easy to operate and actually ejects the magazine in the same way a Sig P226 does.

Field stripping:
Just like a Glock but made easier thanks to a better lever design.

Magazines:
Made of steel and they drop free and fast. I think they are made by Mec-Garr. No struggle with round #10.

Reliability:
Unknown. Shot 200 rounds through it today. No issues.

Final thoughts:
In my opinion, the Walther PPQ M2 5" 9mm is the "Polymer Shadow". I hate to say it, but the Glock will be staying in the safe next weekend. I shot my best 10 shot groups today. Good purchase.

Stay Safe,
Red Seal.

Nice review. My thoughts on the PPQ are about the same. It's now my IPSC gun.

Firing slowly, at distance, the Shadow is more accurate in my hands. But the ergonomics and pointability of the PPQ are superior IMO.

You can get extended magazine baseplates if you find the grip too short.

PPQ is one of the most accurate pistols I've fired. At least in my hands the accuracy is similar to a Sig, and an HK P7M8. It allows me to have a very consistent trigger pull, more so than the P99AS.
I prefer the M1 version, with 106mm barrel.

My PPQ M1 Navy quickly supplanted my Glock 17 as my goto for IDPA and other days at the range. Not surprised the M2 5" is serving you well! I'm sure you'll have no issues with reliability either... Mine digested a ton of lead on courses earlier this month and the only stoppage was due to my short stroke of the slide.

good review, looking for one in same config as well. only pita is getting additional magz.
where did you get yours?

I might be going with the Walther PPX because it's apparently like the PPQ but 200$ cheaper ". Both have great reviews

Nice concise review op....tend to agree, prefer the ppq to the ppx..funny the ppx didn't really fit my hand that well...eitherway, great pistols..

Ditty. It's my only 9mm, and I've yet to encounter a single failure. Probably the only pistol I'd never sell.
