Walther PPQ Navy

Walther just posted on their FB site that M1s PPQ have been sent to different dealers in the US. I hope they announce something similar about a 5" version soon! that would be the epic PPQ.

hmm not sure. i like the idea of the 5" barrel but I think 4/4.1" (or maybe with the threaded barrel but standard slide) is the sweet spot for these guns. My p99 has great balance. if it was much heavier in the front end, that would noticeably throw it off. maybe a fully loaded 15 round mag might change that but we'll never know.

I guess that is why the 5" has the top cut off (several holes) just like G34

i am sure it helps. it also no doubt depends on what you are use to. i'm use to the balance on steel framed guns. i've always found polymers a little tippy, but the p99 with the 4.1 feels really natural to me. maybe if i was weaned on glocks i wouldn't notice it.

But that is 924 vs 899.

No extra mags though.

Northern Republic Magazine had Magnum Research mags that are compatible (I think they're for the Baby Desert Eagle). I bought one from them last fall and it's worked well. It's a 15 round mag pinned at 10 and as a result the spring is a little looser (which I prefer). I've got a couple of the 10 round (not pinned) Magnum Research mags as well, and they're also easier to find and work well. I love my PPQ Navy.

there are reports of p99 (latest release) mags being used succesfully. Not my cup of tea.
I really don't like the idea of using a different mag, as the tolerances might vary slightly making it indistinguishable for the naked eye...

I get the PPQ tomorrow :) anyone know where to get extra mags?

Thanks for the info. Wolverine has PPQ mags for $62 each:eek: so im trying to source something a little cheaper.

Keep an eye on Northern Republic Magazine.

Just for reference, the P99 magazines of the new current generation have identical bodies, they will fit and function in the PPQ.
The P99 .40 magazines have feedlips that are about 1/64" too wide, they are just a hair away from holding 9mm, but everything just vomits out. I have 3 of these mags left over from when I had my PPQ, you can have them for cheap of you want to experiment with tweaking the feed lips.

Also, the Magnum Research Baby Eagle magazines will apparently function as well, though I have heard of some cases of the feed lips needing slight tweaking so the cartridges don't all jack in the box out with a bump.

$62 for a mag is actually better than I could find. Last mag I got cost me like $85, that's when I decided to sell the gun so I wouldn't spend more on mags than on the pistol itself.

I bought mine yesterday from CSC and John said he had 3 or 4 left.

No extra mags though.

He must not have looked very hard. Jason called me back this afternoon and said they had three extra mags and added them to my order for $69 each. Ouch! Oh well. I was going to buy them from Northern Republic Magazine. They have them in stock for $64.99 plus shipping.
