Not seeing too much action on this pistol here, so decided to post my own thoughts here.

Mounted a Holosun 508t on the gun. I feel it allows for a better-balanced gun than the Shadow 2 OR which my wife uses. I find the Shadow 2 front heavy, the Shadow 2 OR is better thanks to the OR, but the Walther's balance is even better, this may be partially due to the lighter 508t.

Holosun 508t is the same as the Holosun 507C except it's made using solid titanium housing making it 40% lighter than the 507C. It's got the same EOTech style reticle, which is awesome!

I read online that Canik TP9 Magazines would fit the Walther PPQ M2 and the Q5 guns so I gave it a try, the Canik magazines are not only cheaper but actually work better than the factory PPQ magazines.

There are reports online that some Q5 Match SF owners experienced issues with their magazines having too much clearance and therefore causing misfeed/jam. Well, the Canik magazines provide a closer/tighter fit and the slide locks open on empty mag and the bottom of slide doesn't damage the magazine like some of the online reports had indicated.

I bought the full-sized TP9 mag because THE TP9 Elite Mag DOES NOT FIT, the TP9 mag is a bit longer, and the base plate angle is a bit different from Walther's. I actually prefer it this way, since I have relatively large hands, I've had the original mags pinching my palm when I inserted the mag.

The grip is actually better than I thought it would be, rough enough but not too rough, I will have to shoot it more before I decide whether to switch over to a LOK grip or not.

The beavertail is honestly pretty useless, some of the online "influencers" talked about how it allows the hand to grasp the gun higher and how it helps with the draw. NOPE. Completely useless in that regard and I wish they just made the area thinner without the beavertail so that the hand can actually ride higher. They did fix the issue where some had reported the beavertail produced a sharp point on each side that would destroy your "thumb knuckle", that's no longer the case and it's been smoothed out. What the beavertail does help a tiny bit is with the reduction of muzzle flip, because the beavertail rests on web between your index finger and your thumb and as the gun tries to rotate upwards in your hand, the beavertail acts as a lever to counter act the muzzle flip.

The gun came with the sight adapter plates and basic tools for changing the plates out. Didn't even get a bore brush, not sure if it got lost somewhere.

The factory trigger isn't anything to write home about, but easily lightened with a reduced power trigger spring. It definitely loses its creep after firing/dry firing a bunch.
Now I'm just waiting for the "Expert" trigger to show up for sale, come on North Sylva!

The factory target isn't as impressive as some of the other targets posted online, but good enough for B-zones from 25 meters away.

My experience is similar with trigger. After a smooth take up I notice this small area of tension before the wall. The rest of the trigger is fine. I had a Q4 TAC and slapped an APEX flat trigger into it. Fantastic trigger. Really shortened the travel but the shoe is to wide for my liking so even though it fits in the Q5SF I hesitate.

I run Walther mags with +0 base extensions and +4 base extensions. I prefer the +0s and they provide enough to manipulate mags into and out of pistol with the mag flare installed. Again not a fan of the mag flare and removed it. I should add the +4 bases do not work with the mag flare addition.

As for mag operation. Smooth in. Smooth out. Somewhat loose inside the pistol (may be normal but don’t recall other pistols similar to that) but never had a feeding issue.

I installed a venom on mine. Not sure if I am fan of dot. The angle of wrist changes flatter when aiming. I guess something to get used to.

I've been eying the Apex trigger as well, I will wait awhile see if the Expert trigger will show up. IPSC season just ended after all, I have time and patience to wait and see what develops. I just ordered a Canik TP9 Elite mag, I will see for myself if it fits.

This is a Canik TP9sfx I had, looks much the same as yours, and the mags for it work great, they also worked in my Jericho's as well, which is the same as CZ75
trigger was good, but first one of these I had and I am use to 1911, and 22 match triggers.
I have not tried the walther, yet.
Just wish they would drop the sight lower, the plates are quite thick, I have a sig , and CZ plate, good steel ,a lot thinner.
I am thinking about one of these, but how many 9's do a guy need, ya stupid question, still room in the safe.

I think the thickness of the plate has to do with the movement of the striker within the slide, but yeah, if the plate was lower it would allow the sight to be lower as well.

Reduced power trigger spring is a must so is the reduced power recoil guide rod assembly.

Going to order the Lok Grips also.

The reduced recoil spring/guide rod is stupid expensive like $180 or something like that, do you know of any source that sells them cheaper? Or if I have to pay that price, I'd like to have a tungsten rod at least.

I have an aftermarket recoil spring system. I bought from Zahal for my q4 but never even thought to try on the Q5SF. I have eyed walther’s tungsten rod/recoil spring. I would be interested in a spring to reduce trigger pull.

Jesus, $480 for a Holosun?

Who else has a EOtech style circle dot that is actually sharper than EOTech, a built-in solar panel that runs in daylight even without a battery, is milled out of a single piece of solid titanium, turns on as soon as you touch the gun, and uses an RMR footprint??

I don’t balk at optic prices very much but that is shocking to me for a Chinese made optic, features or not.

I hear ya, for your information, Bushnell Forge scopes that cost $1000+ are all made in China now. It's all about quality control though; and for us consumers, who are unlikely to face life or death situations, value proposition.

Someone can say a $480 chinese red dot is stupid expensive also.

It's the complete assembly and the guide rod is steel, I don't think tungsten is necessary.

Love my 510C. 100% Reiliable. Great reticle (dot donut donut/dot). Costs $400ish at goTenda. Trudeau said he’ll offer me 20 bucks for it. Said something about all these semi auto rifles he is picking up and will need as many optics as possible.

Like the way you think. For the feature & value to price ratio, Holosuns are hard to beat.

I think maybe you should stock up on North Star's or some no name I can get at about 15.oo ( no I won't) for the big day, LOL.
BTW ,I think the price point is not that bad, average costs 300-350.oo, so 100.oo more? If I did more shooting , I could see it . 700.oo, I have a problem with that , unless I was betting my life on it.

Quick update: TP9 Elite mags do NOT fit, they are about the same length as the Walther PPQ mags but the baseplate angle does not jive with the Q5 SF. So use the standard TP9 mags or factory mags.

If anyone is not running a flared magwell, I can sell off 4 Walther +4 mag extensions.

I had my first jam. Support hand shooting, limp wrists it and a round was stuck in slide. I grabbed the slide and jammed the grip with my other hand. Round popped out with primer strike on it. I have been shooting it without cleaning to see if it will do a class of 800 rounds without problems.

I find my Q4 with the extended threaded barrel was much cleaner as the barrel extended outside the slide. I cannot say for sure but this pistol seems to dirty up quicker. Anyone else notice this?

How are you gents cleaning the inside of the mags?
