Walther PPQ Q5 Match SF Updated 18 Oct 2019

If anyone is not running a flared magwell, I can sell off 4 Walther +4 mag extensions.

I had my first jam. Support hand shooting, limp wrists it and a round was stuck in slide. I grabbed the slide and jammed the grip with my other hand. Round popped out with primer strike on it. I have been shooting it without cleaning to see if it will do a class of 800 rounds without problems.

I find my Q4 with the extended threaded barrel was much cleaner as the barrel extended outside the slide. I cannot say for sure but this pistol seems to dirty up quicker. Anyone else notice this?

How are you gents cleaning the inside of the mags?

The lightening cuts to the slide do allow more "stuff" to get in, but I don't notice the gun to be dirtier than the Shadow 2, other than it is harder to clean the slide. It also depends on the ammo used, too. The cheapest BlazerBrass ammo runs dirty, I get gun powder residue on my arms while shooting BlazerBrass. I switch to my own reloads with Titegroup and it is a lot cleaner.

As for the mags, running the TP9 standard mags is as if they already came with extended baseplates since they stick out. To clean the mags, I just take them apart and use a brush.

I will start reloading over the winter. Titegroup is a clean powder?

It may not be the cleanest, but it is definitely cleaner than factory BlazerBrass stuff because it's a fast burning powder, if you use it properly, there isn't much residual. I use it in both 40S&W and 9mm with good results. The other benefit is that you only need VERY little of it each round, so value-wise it's awesome. For example, with other powders, you may need to use 4-4.5grn per round. With Titegroup you use 3.1 to 3.4grn for 9mm 147grn bullet to meet IPSC power factor. That little bit adds up very quickly especially if you shoot a lot of matches/competition.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy your adapter plate for the Venom? I've been looking everywhere online with no success. I'm looking at the Apex flat trigger. Hopefully it will provide better index finger contact.

Do you have the Q5 SF? If so there is not a flat trigger for it. If you have polymer... I have the flat APEX for you.

As an aside. I just installed the springco competition trigger spring kit today. Super easy install. YouTube demo. Only dry fired so far. Definitely lighter trigger. Easy lb taken off. The best part is the gritty pull is gone and the reset is not so strong (it doesn’t spring your finger back so hard it flys off trigger shoe). I will try it out with ammo.

i also installed springco to solve the stove pipe issue. during my 50 rounds test, i still got one. I didn't replace the stock spring to test the different, but i should.

Finally received the Lok Grips... waited long enough that they now make a thin version with "Bogies" aggressive cuts.

Makes a HUGE difference for me and I can reach the mag release now without rotating my hand.

This along with the factory light trigger spring and recoil spring assembly makes it that much more pleasant to shoot.
