Hi!

I join this forum because I live in Ontario and I need some input. I just bought a Walther PPQ Q5 Match Steel Frame 9mm but having problems with it. This really suck because this guns with tax cost $2316.50 and it is failing to extract.
I did watched some reviews on YouTube before deciding to buying it. They did not really have any problems.

I am shooting CCI Blazer 9MM 124 Grain Non Reloadable Aluminum Casing. Only after a 100 or 200 rounds it is failing to extract. Now I do have some CCI Blazer Brass 9mm 124gr FMJ 1500 rounds on the way.

My point is it should not matter if I used aluminum casing or brass, it should extract. I have a CZ P-10 that cost $600 that shoot like a dream with the aluminum casing and great accuracy.

I am just disappointed and need to fix this problem.

Any of you have this problem with this gun? How did you fix it?

Here are some pictures of what is happening.

Here I try MAXXTech Ammunition 9mm Steel Case FMJ, 115 Grain. 300 rounds in and it didn't get fully ejected.

Here is the CCI Blazer 9MM 124 Grain Non Reloadable Aluminum Casing. 20 to 30 rounds and it will fail to extract.

I too am looking at this pistol and would like to hear if others are having the same issue and how was it fixed. It is not a cheap pistol and I also have not read or watched it have this problem.

Never heard of this before, might be a one off. Reports from US are they are stone cold reliable, just like their Polymer Cousins.

If I had that gun, I would have a red dot on it by now, look at the extractor and see if the end looks good and sharp.
Chamber nice and clean, no rough spots that are holding up the case.
And get some different ammo, try some Winchester, or? Blazer brass is O.K., but I find it not great, look at the price of the stuff, cheaper than that stuff you are shooting.
P/S. if the gun is new , it could be tight yet, oil the slide, shoot the hell out of it and after a few boxes of different ammo, it still don't work, take it back where you bought it. Open the slide ,tip it down and drop a shell in it, it should drop right in all the way with out having to push them in, try a few, if not check the chamber as I said before. Good luck.
If you have a lot of trouble , you could send it to me to break in and look at.

I have about 500rnds through my SF without any issue on FTEs. I've shot both commercial (~50rnds) and reloads (mixed headstamps) without issue. All have been brass cases so I suspect (as others have said) that the issue is with the steel and aluminum case ammo.

The only issue I've had is an occasional failure to lock open on my reloads. That's not a surprise as I've loaded my 9mm down to about 130PF for IPSC and the gun is oversprung out of the box for this ammo. Eventually I'll tune down the spring and the problem should solve itself.

Great gun overall and I find it to be a nice upgrade from Shadow in Production division.

FTE seems to be a common issue with this gun and the reason why I'm holding off buying it. Check the Walther forum. There's a guy that's selling a stronger extraction spring that fixes the issue.

I think it's the extractor's problem, I have several FTEs happened with my polymer one, found the rim of spent case jammed in extractor's hook gap. Also, someone from another forum mentioned "extra power extractor spring is a must have for PPQ SF"

Many, many thousand rounds of all kinds out of my PPQ polymer guns without ever having a single malfunction of any type. Haven't shot my steel one yet, but a buddies is running flawlessly so far.

It is not a common issue at all. On the Walther forums, a couple guys are having issues which is normal on any gun. OP. Did you clean and oil the gun before using? Mine came pretty dry. And yes, ditch the Aluminium blazer. Use full power ammo while breaking in. The factory recoil spring is very stiff.
