The newest Walther pistol is now available in Canada as a range kit package. It comes with 3 mags, holster, mag holder and a very nice carrying case. The short 106mm barrel also gives the pistol a clean look. MSRP is $650 witch I think is a great price for such a pistol package.

Wondering how the PPX compares with the PPQ & P99 (hammer vs strike fired, build quality and so on)?

Here's North Sylva's link & pictures of the package:

Entry level Walther with 6.5# double action only trigger. PPQ has a much better trigger and lower bore axis at a somewhat higher price.

I never understood the point of a DAO trigger guns here in Canada where they are all range queens. Might as well have the best trigger possible as stressful situation (such as in self defence) never happen here and there is not need for a "safe" trigger.

Very true, but still reading the reviews, the 6.5# PPX's trigger supposedly doesn't "feel" like it's 6.5#. A vast majority of shooters are saying that the PPX has an incredibly crisp, smooth & short trigger. Sure does not have interchangeable back straps but this being a Walther pistol that comes with 3 mags, holster, mag holder and a very nice carrying case for $250 less than a plain PPQ it sure looks like a homerun.

The trigger is like the HK LEM and the original Para LDA triggers. The hammer is from two parts and is pre-cocked by the slide. When you pull the trigger you are only pulling against the trigger return springs so its very consistent across the pull with no stacking at the end like on most traditional DAO triggers. You can look at it as a single action trigger with a very long smooth take-up that "cocks" the external hammer purely to make it look safe visually.

Exactly. But the PPX has supposedly a shorter & crisper trigger when compared to HK's LEM triggers. It's exactly like the original Para LDA triggers.

Im an HK guy but I never liked the P30 DA or LEM triggers (or other modern polymer HKs for that matter). They were made with German police contracts in mind where the long pull and reset were specified. There is a new striker fired 9mm pistol coming from HK soon, hopefully it will have a nice trigger with short reset and light pull.

Could you share more information about the striker fired Hk? or wht you know is what everybody knows at hkpro dot net which is mostly rumors... I am curious really.
