I was looking for brass tonight in a trunk I have, and dug out the Wholesale sports catalauge from 1998. Just 9 years ago. Here's the sad part.

Remington model 541-T-$539.95
Sako S/S-$1099.95
CZ 452-$319.95
Browning A-bolt Stalker-$649.95
Browning BPS-$499.95
Browning Citori field-$1529.95
Winchester 1894 Ranger 30-30-$369.95

I could keep going, but I'm too depressed. The funny thing is, 9 years isn't that long. In fact, in those 9 years, my wages didn't rocket up, but gun prices did. Funny how that works, isn't it?

wow....

the a bolt used to sell for what its actually worth!
It was overpriced then too..........

Funny how the cost of Everything (vehicles, houses, gunz etc.) has doubled in the last ten years....but wages have not :bangHead:

Thats prices aren't soo low imo. They look to be only about $400 difference from today and if your not making $400 more today then 9 years ago, well then ;)

That 400.00 equates to nearly 50%...

Are you making 50% more than you were in 1998?

Most arent...

The weird thing is... The excuse we used to get all the time was the exchange rate... With the Canadian Dollar close to par with the US, why arent our gun prices???
Someone other than manufacturers are lining their pockets a bit thick (particularly Importers and distributors) IMHO...

I did like the A-Bolt I used to have, but yeah they are way over-priced.
I can remember not that long ago Ruger #1's selling for under $700

I am making 75% more today then I was 3 years ago. and 25% more today then 4 months ago.

It sucks that the prices are up but you people still buy guns everyday and don't complain. What gets me is a Glock is around $1000 and I have no idea why. It should be like $300 imo but I am not an expert by any means

the BPS has only gone up $30, same with the A-bolt if you wanna see something depressing look at this from a 1958 SIR catalogue i have

I think he means doing the same job. You didn't get a 75% raise for the same position.

Leupold prices have dropped to more inline with US prices.

VXII at Gander Mounain is $279, where can you buy one NIB here for that?
