Wanna see what a Russian Refurbed SKS can bring on GB in the States? Hold on!

It is interesting that "CCCP made in Russia" marked SKSes that are "still in the box" ask for a premium over plain SKSes that have not been marketed like collector toys. How does "still in the box" even correlate with milsurps? (you don't have to point out the 858)

As a liberal American gun owner residing in Canada, I have to strongly object to the characterization of the Obama administration as "far left wing". What they have proposed is still and all significantly less restrictive than the current laws in Canada. Furthermore, with republicans in control of the house, there is virtually no chance of any major restrictions to gun ownership passing in the near future in the US. Anyone saying otherwise is paranoid, period. Organizations like the NRA, and gun businesses in general, encourage the idea that the government is going to pass some harsh gun control law because, not surprisingly, they are very happy to see people rushing out to buy guns and ammunition -- what business wouldn't be?

Personally, I wish the US would look to Canada as a model for regulating firearm ownership, where individuals are required to have a PAL, but no one has even suggested the idea that gun owners should have a permit.

You're going to make friends around here! Don't ask me how i know. I can just tell. Laugh2

Wow.. No wonder you no longer live in the USA. You left the land of the free with the seconde amendment to bring your socialist ideas here. I am a proud Canadian and member of the NRA and hope we someday have the freedoms the Americans do
First, being a liberal in the US is not the same as being a Socialist. People who characterize liberals in general, and Obama in particular, as "socialist" don't know what the word socialist means. There is a big difference.

Second, I am a strong supporter of the 2nd amendment. I own a shotgun, an M305, an SKS, a CZ .22. However Constitutional rights are not unconditional. Society and the law recognize that a balance between individual rights and society in general is necessarily. It is not legal to shout "Fire" in a crowded theater and cause a riot.

Third, the current discussion of gun control in the US has been marked by idiotic remarks by both sides. Liberals talking about "assault weapons" that don't understand the difference between auto and semi-auto, and conservatives saying that restricting magazines to 10 rounds might prevent a mother from defending her children with her AR-15. Seriously.

Finally, I don't think gun control laws will ever stop massacres by crazy people, or criminals from acquiring guns. However, a gun is a powerful tool, and like many other powerful tools like cars, boats, and many other things, society requires people to prove that they are trained and safe before they are allowed to use them.

Don't mean to offend anyone. One thing I like about Canada is that public discourse is still a bit more polite and informed than the current shouting match that passed for discussion in the US. The discussion about gun control is a particularly good example of this.

"far left wing in power " ????

" left the land of the free with the seconde amendment to bring your socialist ideas here" ??

Wow. Ever study political science?

Did sound like a Socialist to me also. I have noticed on a number of Boards I belong to that in the past 5 years if you post anything referring to leftists and socialists
there is always one there to respond. We have pretty much figured out that we are being monitored by these people. We mostly just ignore their rants as you cannot argue with a fence post.

Well someone with any education past grade 3 would know that left wing and socialist philosophy -to oversimplify somewhat - are based on economic and social equality and silent on the issue of firearms.

Regarding current prices: How are these bans expected to play out? Are recent buyers hoping if they purchase now, pre ban, that their purchases will be exempt, and legal, or are sales in 8" pvc pipe also soaring?

OK, I realize I'm new here, but this is very confusing to me. Why the constant attack on what is perceived as being "the left"? Do you not realize that there are people who are left-leaning (mildly or otherwise) who are still gun nuts and think we should be able to own as many guns as we want, and be able to defend ourselves?

It's because when you're dumb, you need things cut up into bite size pieces for your tiny lizard brain to digest. It's just a 'them Vs us' or 'you're either for us or you're against us' ploy to force you to choose a side.

"Do you love guns and freedom or do you hate puppies and sunshine?"

Edit: Not that i'm trying to say that this describes you Phil.

Yes to all you asked. The bans so far on items and certain guns is being pushed in certain states first. Feds have yet to vote on anything. But take New York, all magazines for any rifle capable of holding more than 10 rounds must be sold out of state by early 2014. Or, you must turn them over to the state police as I read it. Also, only 7 rounds may go into a 10 round magazine even for an AR platform rifle. New York is going to only allow magazines designed and capable of no more than 7 rounds to be sold or manufactured in that state. Pistols included. Can't remember when that goes into effect. Rules are staggerd by dates. Also as of Jan 13 as I recall they cannot buy certain weapons considered an assault rifle by their definition.
If you buy ammo over the net, it must be sent to a New York FFL and a Criminal Back ground check has to be run on you.

Go through this New York State webpage and look at it. You can see what has to be done. Including franken pinning a 30 round AR or others to 10 round max and still only load 7 rounds.

The Feds may or may not pass worse! FACT: Only where Democrats dominate House and Senate are these new laws being passed. A few Democrat Congress people have opposed, but there are not enough whom have. Just look at Colorado as of today.

Magazine limits are the biggest joke going. What's to stop a nutjob from driving the round limiting pin out of a hi-cap mag if he's about to go full retard?

Exactly. All that is happening is a prelude to gun confiscation some time down the line I think. At least for the ones we like to own and shoot. Besides, who thinks the
criminals will ever turn in any high cap magazine. But, since so far SKS is going to be legal, this drives the SKS prices higher and higher down here.

It is not legal to shout "Fire" in a crowded theater and cause a riot.

Nor is it legal to discharge a firearm in a crowded theatre. You are however, allowed to bring your tongue into the theatre, and similarly you should be able to bring your gun.

I hate puppies AND sunshine...puppies in the sunshine makes me see red...Someone needs to put a cap on how many puppies can be encountered during the course of a day, and the day is too long in the summer months...Someone needs to put a cap on how many hours of daylight we need to be subjected to, point me in the direction of a sh1thead backbench politician with nothing to loose and everything to gain by proposing ridiculous bills to the legislature floor and we'll make it happen!! What, you don't believe me!?
