If there is only one for sale it only takes one buyer. Market value is whatever a willing buyer is prepared to pay at that particular point in time.
But there isn’t only one gun, nor buyer. If that were the case there would no longer be a market and your gun would be without fiscal value.
Not sure if you track or remember S&W 952 pricing, but one sold for over $5500 USD, well above the market value. Next thing you see are tons of 952’s listed at $5k+ with no sales. Current prices are around $3k, right where they were before the one sale that was anomalous. Compare that to Pythons or HK P7’s that are selling by the hundreds at ever increasing prices and have been for years.
Don’t get me wrong, I think the 210’s time is coming given the increasing number of RPAL holders, the reputation of the gun (well earned in my mind), and an ever shrinking supply. I just don’t think we’re quite there. That said, I’ve been very wrong about this before.........damn P7’s......
