Facebook gives us an opportunity as a business to reach out to potential shooters, new shooters, and those who do not have time for dedicated forums as well as interact directly with our friends here at CGN and those who visit the store in person but do not use the internet much -- a lot of people have Facebook on their phones, but don't spend much time in front of their computer screen. It's just a great place for us to share our love of guns, alert shooters to new products, and have contests to reward community participation the same way Progressive Sales and daily posts allow us to interact with dedicated gun folk here at CGN! Two sides of the same coin, and we like to reach as many shooters and future shooters as we can to grow the sport and the industry together with everyone who posts positive, responsible firearms topics here and there alike.

We have just ONE WEEK LEFT in this contest, so if you've come up with any new ideas or have any friends who want to join in on the fun, direct them to OUR FACEBOOK!

"Interact with the dedicated folk here at CGN"
The dedicated folks that aren't allowed to enter your contest unless they allow you to force them to open a Facebook account?
Well...the dedication runs one way I guess.

Just for the record, there are a LOT of your customers and supporters here that are pi$$ed right off. You may get the bunch of "likes" you wanted (whatever the hell those are)....but there's a good segment of a demonstrated target market right here which are less than impressed.

I would really appreciate people can stop filling threads with comments #####ing about Facebook. All security reasons aside, of which I am very aware, it is a free account. Nothing is stopping you from signing up with a gmail account, fake name, and generic info, to enter a contest.

You cant win a contest without entering. and I am 100% sure Wanstalls does not need to advertise to an already dedicated consumer base like CGN. For them Facebook is world wide advertising that is accessible to anyone with an account.

I am more interested to know why proud gun owners would not "like" and contribute to a supporting dealers social media campaign. There is safety in numbers, even if they are anonymous users. If every Canadian were educated about guns, knew how many gun owners were in their neighbourhood, and realized that the hunter next door was not a gun crazed maniac, we would all benefit.

I take friends and neighbours shooting once I trust them and show them how to safely handle and operate firearms. Many of my friends and neighbours have seen my basement and noticed my gun safe. They know I am safe, law abiding, and responsible. I have never had a problem. I am not afraid.

Sorry about the rant. but I hate it when I have to look through a pages of "I hate facebook" comments to find some actual info on a thread.

Facebook sucks.

Yup. Again. Facebook sucks.

I don't even like facebook and I don't have a problem with this.......I think I had been off for over a year when I popped back on for this contest.

Wrong Way, get over it. They're trying to BROADEN their customer base. Everyone on CGN is already aware of what Wanstalls has to offer. There's nothing stopping you from entering the contest. Use a fake name. Don't know what "likes" are? They make Wanstalls' name show up on potentially hundreds of other peoples computer screens. Oh and that's potentially hundreds PER person who "likes" them. So I for one am unimpressed with your strangely selfish attitude towards their business tactics. If you can't have something for free then no one should? Grow up. You're not their only customer.

So let me get it straight....anyone who "likes" this page (as is "required" to enter), it broadcasts to everyone else that you "like" the gun store? Sure, what could go wrong? Hmmmm....any of you guys with these accounts have business associates/clients that may be anti?

And it's not "free". You are REQUIRED to sign up to a new Internet sight....if it was "free" to CGN members they could enter....HERE....on CGN....where it's being promoted.

meh, do what you want, but it's amazing to see how many are happy to be sheep and are unable to see the big picture.

Really...all this butthurt...for the CHANCE......of naming a shotgun and a few bucks? THis amuses me to no end...

A) Is it because you all want that $150 that bad that a multi-page rant is necessary? Times are tough I know but really, I think you can pay a hundred bucks to name a random star in the sky. Plus thats a 100% confirmed deal that you can show off to the whole world! Then again, $150 is a good night out at the bar, or maybe a good 3 songs from Cinnamon at the local strip joint. I mean, money don't come easy these days...but man....just gotta have that CHANCE!
B) Is the allure of the combination of gambling and guns too much too resist? Gambling is addictive. So is buying guns, so if you add the 2 together I could see it affecting you more than each individual issue. You have my sympathy. To be fair I heavily enjoy both activities, so my sympathies are actually sincere.
C) Maybe its because you have a fear of social media/any online public sharing website that you absolutely know will leach information to the NWO, the freemasons and that the lizardmen aka: Harperbama who will use this against you in some quasi-fascist SWAT raid. You live in a semi-computer literate world and believe signing up for any social media that shares your information is grounds for white house impeachment. You wrap your CPU in tinfoil before logging into any public domain website. Seek help.
D) Maybe its not because you fear social media, its because you hate social media. You despise facebook and how much it has controlled your life, even RIGHT NOW to the point where the thought of having to use facebook in applying to name a shotgun for an online lottery with a slim chance of winning the equivalent cash of a half decent friday night at the bar drives you ANGRY! TERRIBLY ANGRY! Angry enough to let the firearms community know you are ANGRY! Did I mention there are angry people here? I mean, you don't even use facebook and facebook is making you angry! WHERE IS THE JUSTICE IN THAT?
E) Maybe I'm wrong, and you're all just angry because you all don't know how to use facebook? :D

Yep. Agree with you WW.

Every time I watch the news I lose a little more faith in society. And lately every time I log onto CGN I lose a little faith in gun owners.
When did half of us become such tin foil hat wearing, argumentative, babies.

It's a contest. Wanstalls gives you the opportunity to enter, all you have to do is abide by the terms they set out.

It's simple people.

You help them expand their business, they enter you in the contest.

For all the antis. (Anti Facebook- or anti gun buisness) that want to enter, I have 21 close friends and family on Facebook, how about you help wanstalls out and email 28 of your friends and family something positive about wanstalls. That way you shared the same amount as I did. Then write an email tho wanstalls explaining that you can't do Facebook and that you did share their business with non-customers and beg to be put in the running.

Obviously that is a retarded idea. As others have said just sign up for Facebook with a generic gmail account and like the damn company.

We surely do it more to find the right name than getting 150.00, sure is nice but wont change nobody's life to have a few more bucks but being chosen mean that your proposition was the best... JP.
