Wanstalls: Marlin 1895ABL - .45/70

HOw do you figure mfg date from the serial?

It's funny you should ask.

I have no idea LOL.

I called Marlin and the nice lady on the phone told me that, so I was hoping others could do the same and maybe we could figure it out as we go.

That's why I posted the first and last parts of the serial number.

Should be February 2013, I have one from 2013 as well and it's nice. They may be hit of miss though I've heard of some bad ones of that era

Got mine yesterday. Very nice! The action is stiff new. Smooth, but tight I guess you could say. It should break in nicely. Very happy with it. Thanks wanstalls!

I would think these new manufactured rifles are fine. I had a 2011 SBL that was a nightmare. It took months at Gravel (under warranty) and eventually they sent me a brand new 2015 model and it's flawless.

I even bought it second hand so it was a real score in the end.

Work the action 1000 times while watching tv. Everything is pretty stiff out of the box. Loading gate too.
