I'm sure this has been asked. I can score an ruger precision rifle in 308 for good price. Read reviews some good some bad.

Advice, is this a good first precision rifle? I'm sure it's more precision rifle than I am

Other option savage 10tr or rem700 tac and I'd put either option in MDT

Need some experienced input on options. Sightron 6-24/ 8-32 most likely will be glass

I agree what everyone is saying above. Don't drop $1500 on what the latest internet trend is telling you to spend your money on. Go to your local range and try different systems. Once you shoot a few rifles (Savage, Rem, Tikka....), you can quickly narrow your wishlist to something that you're going to enjoy. Remember, your first long range rig is never your last!

Yeah that's the hard part. I can get my hand on one of these to shoot and 2 others in store but won't be able to shoot them all. Last 4 times at my range I've been there solo so chance of finding someone 2ould be minimal. But I can get a good feel in store at least and go from there. I'm tall with long arms so it's about fit

Or, go big and buy a nice one. Guaranteed you'll end up selling along the way and buy it anyway. Way more expensive to go that route

If you are comfortable buying used firearms, consider buying a used remington 700 that has an aftermarket barrel installed and an action that has been worked over by a gunsmith (and a nice aftermarket stock if you can swing it). These guns in my experience are very accurate and quite affordable. Try to get one with a stock that is adjustable.

I agree. Also make sure if you aren't 100% happy with the set up you can get aftermarket accessories for it, especially stocks and chassis's.

You're in a major city with a lot of fellow CGN'ers. No guarantees but perhaps you could ask around and see if anyone local has one of these rifles that they'd let you try out. This is a great community here, you might be surprised by the offers that you'd get.
