Want to buy a shotgun

I want to buy a shotgun for duck hunting, I am looking at a mossberg and winchester, can't make a decision, any thoughts on which one is better

I love all my mossbergs. Dependable rugged always function. Can get a lot of aftermarket parts for them. I'd look into the 535 3 barrel combo. Even comes camoed for like $525

I bought a synthetic 930 for my dad and a walnut version for my wife. So far no complaints and they will cycle light loads. They are also easy to clean.

I'd get a Remington 870 Express before I'd get a Mossberg or a Winchester.

What is your price range?

If you're going to get an 870 make sure you give it a good going over in the store. But that really goes for any firearm.

I like the Mossbergs and Stoeger I have. My dads old Winchester has put the hammer down on a few critters. Go handle a bunch and see which one fits!

And the 930 I bought has been tested from heavy loads to light loads with no issues. Just have to see how it holds up in the slough not that the season is on us!

Going on my 4th season with my Mossberg 930 with wood stock
Only issues I've had was from being way too careless with cleaning so it wouldn't cycled
1000's of rounds, still works great, and everything is tight

Everybody loves recommending a brand, but the truth is that the shotgun should fit you. If it doesn't come to the shoulder somewhat "naturally" and "easily," buy a different shotgun! It should natural when you bring it into a shooting position.

I have a Mossberg 500, and a Mossberg 835 (the actions are pretty much exactly same), and I like them both. They are dependable and rugged, and they fit me really well. I can look down the length of the barrel with minimal adjustment, and that makes them keepers.

Dunno anything about any mossberg, but the Win SX3 has been reliable with cheap ammo at temperatures of -30C for me. So it would be my pick.

I'd stear clear of the new Winchester and Remington pumps. Mossberg is probably the best budget gun.

Are you looking for new or used? Pump, semi, or over/under? What's your price range? Do you have an average-sized stature, or is a compact model required? 10 gauge, 12 or 20? Are you sensitive to recoil? Do you want something you can admire, or do you just need a utilitarian tool?
