Want to buy an affordable double. Thoughts?

Husqvarna line up. 310 series is the best. Made 1912 to about 1949. Guns after serial number 165,000 will have 2 3/4" chambers. All have greener cross bolting. Letter suffix to the 310 speak to barrel steel type and engraving if any. 610 series built 1949 to 1952. Lacks Greener cross bolt lock up. Generally not as well designed or built as the 310 series. The 615 series was made 1949 to 1952 very few built (around 2000) same basics as the 610 guns. 350 series were built 1952 to 1960 most but not all had greener cross bolts. Further decline in manufacture quality as previous guns. 1310 series. Built 1959 to 1970. Build quality was restored and this series of guns were well received during manufacture. Too little too late and no further production occurred after 1970. Most had greener cross bolting. If I had to choose a Husqvarna built gun it would be a 2 3/4" chambered 310 or a 1310 series shotgun.

Suhl Thalman or plain jane Merkel. If it fits you, there will never be reason to complain. Or a Brno ZP sidelock. Elegant, well built, and both the Brno and the German guns are an extremely good value for the money.

Thanks Darryl, you saved me some time. I'd also snap up any good condition Husqvarna series 200 and 300 sidelocks made before WW1. But they are rare as hens teeth. Cheap, but rare. Like the pre WWII boxlocks, most likely made from Sauer actions. When Sauer was making some pretty fine actions and guns.

As to Czech made guns......probably my favorite go-to upland gun is my Prague-made Lovena sidelock. When I'm looking in the safe, deciding what to take, my hand reaches for that more than anything else.

I forgot to mention. If buying a Husky, I’m sticking to the 310 family. Nothing that came after.

I bought a 350 with the greener bolt and it is in the mail, so I hope it is a good shooter.Made in the early fifties like myself and it seems like a 310 with the addition of the extra bolt.Made just a few years later than the venerable 310, so I will see what I get.If I don't like the quality I will sell it for a 1310.Comparing the German BSW shotgun to the Husky there is no comparison. The German shotgun is in a different league in quality, and makes me believe that the pre war guns are the best quality .It's amazing someone else didn't buy that BSW before me, as it is so nice for the 200 dollars spent. Most of the other Tradex shotguns seemed overpriced for what we get.
